New question about LCU movement

Post by niceguy2005 »

I finally crossed the Gangees in one of my games (as the allies) and have established a beach head on the other side of the river. The defenders (Japan) have retreated to Dimapur. There is a large force of enemy units one hex to the south, the hex is contested by a large force of my units.

Many of my combat units have advanced from the beach head hex toward Dimapur. However, some of my baseforce and artillery units refuse to move. I enter the destination hex as one hex to the east and the units refuse to accept the orders. I have seen this before in China where the units will refuse to move from a base if their supply and/or moral are very low...usually in the low teens or single digits. The units in question though do have satisfactory moral, fatigue, disruption and supply.

Why is this happening?

Edit: by the way, some baseforce and artillery units have moved successfully to the next hex. Also, the units in the hex in question are NOT under fire of any kind.

No idea. It usually goes away after a turn or two though.

Can you order the units to move to Dimapur itself? Alternatively, if there's a unit in that stack that does not refuse to move eastwards, you could try to hit "Follow all" or "Move all".

I don't want all the units in that hex to move...I need some units in reserve and to hold down the line of supply. It wouldn't do to have para's or something else disrupting such a beautiful operation. [:-]

I have noticed in China as well that the refusal to move seems to be on a turn by turn basis, suggesting that the units are failing a die roll. I just can't figure out what die roll it would be. Here is a screen shot of a unit that just refused to move.

If it works you can cancel the movement orders for all units you want to remain in the hex. The trick is to get those mutinous troops to accept a destination just once, then leave them alone for the rest of the march.

"Support Required" is red. Lack of support will not cause a unit to stay put (or fail a roll), will it?

This is true...stupid mutinous troops...where's Lacrimosa when you need her. [&:]

Not that I know of.

Also worth noting is the percentage of the units that seem to be refusing to move. It seems that close to half the units refuse on any given turn, suggesting a 50% chance of failing that die roll. That number is just a guess though I haven't tracked it.

Try giving them dimapur as the destination as the AI hates moving from a non-base hex to another non-base hex. then cancel the move when they get one hex east.

Just an idea.
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Judging by Gen. Davies stats, I'd wager that he is "best suited to command a rear-area unit"...maybe he's taking it too literally.

PS: No, it's not a serious post, but with this game you never know...[:)]
