atomic bombs

Post by TommyG »

The manual states that the atom bombs damage heavy industry. Is that all they damage? Most imporantly, what do they do to the LCUs in the target hex?

It would be nice to have the LCU's experience massive distruption to show the effects of shock and surprise. There would also be a great deal of manpower racing to dig out the survivers in the city.

Thanks for the links. It looks like the A-bomb does nothing to LCUs. So, my stategy of sparing Tokyo from conventional bombing, with the intent of nuking it the day before my troops arrive, is a tactical and stategic blunder. Crap! I should of checked this out six weeks ago.

A nuke effects about 5 square miles in a 3600 square mile hex. While I agree there should be some sort of disruption, I wouldnt say "massive". The nukes, other than the shock effect, didnt do a lot more than the firebombing was doing. Just did it quicker. Troops defending the area around the city wouldnt likely be deployed in it (see firebombing above), although it is likely that some troops would be in town (R&R, getting supplies, ect).
