Steel Panthers World At War v7.1 Complete Game is Now Available
For those who are new to SPWaW here is some background. SPWaW is hex based top down view using a alternating turn based (I go you go or IGOUGO) design. SPWaW has added timed play feature as well giving each player set amount of time to conduct his turn before the turn ends and his opponent turn begins. Armor, gun and vehicle units are represents one per icon. Each infantry squad can have up to 19 men in it. A crew can represent from 1 to 4 men and include machine guns or mortars. Each hex represents 50 yards of terrain with many new terrain features added. Each game turn represents a few minutes of real time. SPWaW is a very highly refined version of Steel Panthers III placed in the Steel Panthers I game scale. We used Steel Panthers III since it was the most stable version of the game engine. This game is a complete game and 100% free.
SPWaW is a true Windows games and does not require DOS. SPWaW will run on Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP. SPWaW will also run under OS/2 and Linux as well.
Version: 7.1 Filesize: 439.09 MB

It figures... I just downloaded and installed the whole sheebang (including all the patches and upgrades) on a different computer last night! LOL
Took HOURS!
Just my luck...:):)

I do, but I had to get it from Edome and the best I could do was 82kbs with a d/l manager. As a single d/l (without the manager) the best speed I could get was 38kbs. Then the unzipping took almost as long as the d/l! There's a post about this in the "Accessing from another computer" thread.Originally posted by sven

Great news
Well thats about the best news I've heard in a while. I would give you a cookie but it would be stale by the time you got it, so I'll give you a sticky instead!:D

These are not really patches, but some fixes, you can find them in this forumOriginally posted by m200
Are there any patches that came out after the 7.1 patch??? Where could I download them?
m200
As for the stero sounds, I don't think they're included in this full 7.1 version, which should have a size of more than 600 MB if they were. But I could be wrong ...
Regards.

Unfortunately, the link here takes you to gamesdomain, which shows two USA links, one of which is broken and the other is either constantly busy and refusing connections, or, when you do connect, gives d/l speeds of only 52kbs. I also see that the file is in Zip format, and I have to again question why. The savings for that sized file (since the executable inside is also compressed) is only 18-20 megs, a mere pittance compared to the file size and due to the fact that it takes far longer to unzip the file than downloading the additional 18-20 megs would take. You also then need less HD space to do the install since you don't end up with the 400+ meg zip file, and the executable, and the actual install (before cleanup that is).
Yes, I know I'm complaining about something that's free, but if there are problems Matrix needs to know about it.

I'm confused. I just downloaded the complete 7.1 zip file to save on a CD. I also saved the 7.1 patch that came out a few days later. Now, do I need to apply the 7.1 patch to the 7.1 game I just downloaded, OR, is the 7.1 patch just a patch to bring versions 7.0 and lower up to 7.1?Originally posted by David Heath
No it does not. You will still need any and all patches that came out after our v7.1 release.
David
Another question. I have an earilier copy of the game that I've patched up to 7.1. Is this copy now identical to the complete 7.1 that I just downloaded? Do I need to apply the 7.1 patch to this earlier "upgraded to 7.1" copy?
