Frank strongly advised that the Entente heavily invest in ASW research.

Follow the guidlines on the naval screen - keep 7 transports in the Nth Atlantic and 2 in hte Eastern Med, and use ASW and naval patrols to defend them from the nasty Kaiser and Sultain and their lackys!!

If you do this the UK will never starve.

yup shipping works fine for me Ray , Britain is very short on DD's i find its good to build a couple with your large starter navy budget.
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Well...

I'm not saying it's broken, I'm just trying to find how to do it.

Amazingly, I found the answer in the manual.

You can also use the French DD's if the Brits take to much damage.

France has more DDs than it needs at start and Britain doesn't have enough.  France can therefore help with anti-sub duty in the Atlantic until Britain builds a few more.

Also, you don't really need many DDs attached to your large battleship patrols in the North Sea or anywhere else.  Cruisers are the best thing to add to your battleships as their speed makes them effective at locating enemy squadrons.

The thing is, without ASW research DDs aren't that effective against subs.  More effective than anything else but their effectiveness more than doubles with research (representing both technological and tactical gains).  if the CP player is making an effort at building subs the British player has to respond with more destroyers and ASW research.

Nothing i dislike more than a despot , except lazy ones [;)]

Back on track i 'used' to always try and send one DD with surface units in case of sub attacks on high value naval units. However never seen it happen so should move the brit DD from alexandria back home (assuming it can get past the austrian navy). Even with the french DD's in the atlantic transports do get badly mauled on occasion So i would reccomend research into ASW (takes one heck of a long time though) and tanks and trenches always seem more urgent, not to mention artillery (never use gas as TE player) and better a/c are a must too. Now all i need is a bottomless pool of money to do it [;)]
