Post by rlefebvr »

I have the latest patch and latest video drivers.

It does work in a window, but it''s a very small window.

At least I can give it a go now until I figure things out

Shouldnt be the video card, I have a GeForce 7600 GT and it works great with MF2 now in testing.  The next version should be release fairly soon and hopefully then everything will work.  Now is a good time to get familiar with the game, set up leagues etc..

Hi.

Sorry you're running into trouble. I need to ask some questions to get a better understanding of what's happening.

- Can you give me a list of the controllers you have connected to your computer (any USB device)

- Are you using any custom stadiums?

- You mention you can get to the coin toss, at what point does it fail exactly? Can you make a selection in the coin toss? Does the coin toss process seem to finish? (meaning you've picked your kick and side selection options)

- Can you give me the exact build number? It's shown on the top left of the title screen.

I may have further questions once I have those answers.

thanks
David

o.k. It's late and I am tired, but I have some good news.

Since no one else seem to be having the same problem, I decided to do my due diligence and test the computer.

It would seem it is something in my start up items that is causing trouble. My machine is pretty lean, but I will
still have to kill them one by one.

I used "end it all" before starting the game and it's running fine now.

As soon as I figure out what app is causing the game to freeze I will let you know in case anyone else as the same problem.

Sorry if I was starting to sound a little peeved, but a computer hanging to the point where you have to unplug it is never a good thing.

Thks to all and I will get back to you. (Just not tonight) :-)

Hi.

Were you able to determine what application was causing this problem?

thanks

Wow, the last one I tried of course.

It's an app called Magic tune. It came with my Samsung LCD 931C monitor and it loads on start up.
I use it mainly to set the brightness of my monitor as the whites actually hurt the eyes after awhile.
I can turn it off after my computer loads without affecting anything.

I have no idea why it is conflicting with the game.

Now...let's get ready for some FOOTBALLLLLL.

I'm afraid they can and sometimes do. It's why I ask the question. I have seen a number of customer built/edited stadiums that are incorrectly formated or are missing information in the stadium data files. I've seen custom stadiums with geometry so poorly generated I'm surprised the game loads at all. This missing or poorly formated information causes problems for the game and is why edited stadiums are not supported and it's not a feature of the game. I build my stadiums to a specific format and expect specific information in specific locations. Even texture names are taken into account.

I've had a number of support emails over the past months involving game crashes (or bugs of a less severe nature) that were the direct result of downloaded stadiums not loading properly. So yes, a custom stadium, that isn't built to specification, can and do cause problems.

Edit - Just to be clear; I have seen customs that do work. I have also seen some that don't work properly. And that is why I ask.
