GGWAW:AWD copying the game

Post by freetalk »

I have a licensed copy of Gary grigsby's World at War: A world divided.

I made a full copy from my home PC to my laptop (via DVD) as
i will be away from home for several weeks and want to play the game.

Whenever I start it I get the message:
Fatal Error Code #80 - there is an error with your serial number.

is there any reson a copy should not work? Thank you

Yes, you must install the game, not copy it, so that the serial number is entered during install.

The install option should come up when you put in your CD (with autoplay on, can't remember what you do exactly if you have it off). You will need to have the patch files on your other computer so you can apply them once you install the original game.

Don't you just click on the file to start the install process? You have to have the file that you downloaded from Matrix in order to install the game.
