Saving in a campaign game

Post by Loinvoyant »

Hi,
Excuse my english but i'm a french fan of the serie (by the way, fantastic job everybody !)
and a "one-day buyer" (is it correct ?!).
In the FAQ of the boxed version it is said that "you CAN'T save a campaign game"...
Does that mean that i have to spend five hours (that i haven't) to achieve a scenario or is there an other way to save my progress ?
The "save as" option lead to a lot of cheating because you can go back to where troubles started but just an overwrite "save" option could be very helpful (my wife agreed on this point).
Someone can help ?
Thanks
Merci Matrix pour ce superbe jeu, continuez le combat !

Je te souhaite la bienvenue.

You can save a Scenario by hitting the save button.  The game will automatically save the Scenario in the proper folder.

Saving a Campaign game is a little different, at least the first time you try to save.  After hitting the save button, a box will ask where you want the file saved.  If it's a West Front game, you have to select the West Front folder.  The same it true for East Front and Rising Sun.

To access the menus, push "m," and the menus will appear across the top.

Hi,

i found this a litle bit confusing....
Should the primary save path not always the directory from the Startet
Game ? [WestFront/EastFront/RisingSun]

I have wondering as i started a LCG and he need a save path, not over the
reason it needs an save "Name" ..but over the default path and that i need
to redirect it to the right place first ...

This should corrected in a next update ;)
Thanks.

Yes, it is simple change in source code of the game, default path for standard Windows save dialog is Documents folder but it should be easy to change.

I'm not sure what this means, but the tone seems friendly enough.

Larry, did you notice your thread got over 2000 hits? Not bad for a thread devoted primarily to 1960s television programs.

Hi Frank!

Oh that stupid saying is from the Tarzan show I watched as a kid. Tarzan said that to the lions when trouble arose. I was just trying to be funny, and silly. [:-]

I had not noticed the hits. Goes to show us how important TV was while growing up. I don't even remember the thread title? [&:]

I found it. It's funny how that thread turned into favorite TV shows:

Thanks Frank. [;)]

You succeeded.  I got a giggle out of it, although I can't speak for anyone else.

I didn't catch the allusion to Tarzan.

Just a note for all those who are interessted in mutiple file saves in the campaign game: browse to the folder with your save game files. There are two files (.cpn & either .ccl (for linked campaigns) or .ccd (for dynamic campaigns). Copy & rename both of them. Thats all. [;)]
