SPWaW - some questions - help

Post by m200 »

Hello,

I've got the following questions, maybe someone could answer them:

1. What is the vid998.smk file for? And does it still work with SPWaW 7.1 (I remember it appearing a long time ago when SPWaW 5 or 6 was still around, but I can't remeber what it was used for)?

2. Just wanted to make sure - Does the SPWaW Sound Stereo Patch that is available at the Armor Site still work with 7.1? Does v7.1 still need it or maybe it is already somehow included in the game?

3. Can the old patches that make it possible to change a language in SPWaW (they used to be available at Matrix) be used with the latest 7.1?

regards,

Hi,

1. The big smk vid 998 thing is the game start up video and must not be deleted, otherwise the game won´t run! AFAIC it´s there for this licensing thing with SSI (..who has the rights for the original SP code).

2. Don´t know.

3. Only if the language files are exclusively meant for V7.1! Don´t try to combine anything that is not labeled V7.1. In fact the language exe files are whole executables that include the different languages in the game code!

have fun

You only need to apply the sound patch if the last full installation of SPWAW was prior to ver 5.3. IE: If you patched from 5.0 up to 7.1 then it is recommended. If you've installed 7.0 from the LV or WT Mega CD's then it's not required. All full installs of SPWAW 5.3 and later have the new sound already included into the installation automatically.

If you had then I would be more confused then usual. What was your last full install...................wait let me guess 7.0 with one of the Mega CD's.;)

Yeah, but this file can be downloaded from the Armor site. Does it mean there may be problems with the vid 988 file that is in the game?
