The game has been ongoing.

We have now reached February 13th of 1945.

There has not been any major action.

The biggest fight at the moment is at Marianas. FDR has stationed significant number of troops at Saipan and these guys refuse to surrender.

Ground combat at Saipan

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 147564 troops, 1178 guns, 686 vehicles, Assault Value = 3298

Defending force 52000 troops, 272 guns, 140 vehicles, Assault Value = 840

Allied max assault: 282 - adjusted assault: 168

Japanese max defense: 423 - adjusted defense: 1306

Japanese ground losses:
173 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
161 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 10

Bulk of my navy and 4E bombers are supporting this ground campaign at Marianas. Once this is done I need to evaluate things and see where to focus next.

The Burma offensive is slowly going ahead. It still takes some time start pushing further into Malaya. Meanwhile I have been bombing airfields at Malaya and Thailand. The Kompong Trach base was captured last turn by allied troops.

In Oz and South Pacific I´am bulding up my offensive units. These guys should link up with major allied spearhed sometimes in summer of 1945. That is the plan at least.

I'am eager to get USSR into play but it is still few months off.

We slowly making progress here. FDR has been very busy at work so the turns haven't been flying in with quick pace.

There are good news regarding this PBEM.

I recieved an email from FDR this evening stating that things should get in motion now. (Luckily FDR had the save file since my HD problems kind of vanished those .pws files from me)

Actually this made me in very good mood. In many ways this the THE PBEM for me... fist one I started and still up and running! [:)]

I need to check few things once the turn arrives. Last turn we did was in early June.

Good to see this game going again, Jari. But where's my turn!!! [:'(] Maybe we have e-mail problems again...

Could you post a strategic map when you have a chance? I was following this AAR, but with the delay I lost track of what the general situation was.

I will post an strategic map once next turn arrives. [:)]

Allied troops now capture Alon Star in the Malayan Peninsula. The Japanese Naval Guard and Brigade units retreated to Georgetown. My armoured units are in pursuit and hopefully can seize the base without Infantry help.

These 4 IJA divisions are in trouble. Some additional 150 000 Chinese infantry will reach the hex within days. I intend to launch an immediate shock assault and IF succesfull I would have routed 6 IJA Divisions near Chungking.

Also an ground assault is ordered at Kweiyang. I doubt it will succeed but I want to keep him on his toes everywhere.

Southern Pacific

US infantry regiment landed on Pagan last turn. The base should be overrun easily.

The Japanese resistance at Saipan continues but I do expect to wipe out the remaining enemy units within an week or so.

Allied CV TF's are returning from their succesfull raid mission. They are ordered to replenish and wait for further orders.

Ok. These bases are not strongly fortified nor garrisoned. Palau has 2 units in place (60 000 men) but I think the fortress there kind of FOW the whole thing. I will seize these bases soon and start preparing for the major offensive action.

Saipan resistance is now completely wiped out.

I will also start moving from Solomons very soon. I will bypass Rabaul and Truk. These bases serve no major purpose anymore.

China

Ground combat at Kweiyang

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 235718 troops, 1023 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 5965

Allied ground losses:

I wanted to test whether shock assault would have been enough.. well it was not. Now time rest few more turns and keep bombarding him here.

A major Chinese army is moving towards Sian. I think FDR will be in trouble there soon.

Malaya & Thailand

Ground combat at Georgetown

Allied Shock attack

Attacking force 60600 troops, 454 guns, 683 vehicles, Assault Value = 1642

Japanese max defense: 0 - adjusted defense: 1

Allied assault odds: 817 to 1 (fort level 4)

Allied forces CAPTURE Georgetown base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
539 casualties reported
Guns lost 30

Allied ground losses:
65 casualties reported
Guns lost 1
Vehicles lost 3

Now I have 2 solid airbases near Singapore. I will continue my push towards "the crown jewel".

B29's already started softening Taiping. This base will be assaulted immediately. Intel reports 6 units of which I think at least 4 were routed earlier.

Saigon is isolated. Some 39 units there trapped. I will bomb the rest of the resource centers there to dust. I haven't decieded when or how I'am going to approach this major base.

Game date is 25th of March 1945

The game has progressed yet another few weeks.

I did offer FDR a peace terms just in case he wants to give up this fight... well he refused flat out!!! [X(][:D][:D]  I must admit that I admire his stubborn attitude! [&o]

Here is an over all run down what has happened.

China

Japanese has retreated towards Sian. I have 300 000 men in pursuit. Also some 80 000 who were trapped are pushing towards Sian from North.

Intresting to see what kind of defense he can muster in Northern China.

Malaya/Thailand

In Malaya the allied troops have advanced into Kuala Lumpur. Some 30 000 enemy troops reported but I doubt FDR can prevent the base from falling I have plenty of armoured units there.
Also Singapore airfield is now under constant assault! P47 ThunderBolts are doing good job off blasting his runways down.

The biggest battle is fought at Saigon. There the + 200 000 men from Japanese Burma army are putting up their Alamo style fight.

Ground combat at Saigon

Allied Deliberate attack

Attacking force 280034 troops, 2153 guns, 2051 vehicles, Assault Value = 7340

Defending force 220590 troops, 2176 guns, 118 vehicles, Assault Value = 3768

Allied engineers reduce fortifications to 8

Allied max assault: 6564 - adjusted assault: 1230

Japanese max defense: 3631 - adjusted defense: 15301

Allied assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 8)

Japanese ground losses:
7744 casualties reported
Guns lost 135
Vehicles lost 6

Allied ground losses:
15061 casualties reported
Guns lost 646
Vehicles lost 61

This battle is supported by RAF + US bombers. I wonder how long will this last.

Southern Pacific

Ok. I have made an big blunder here. I went againts Palau only to notice that it was garrisoned by 2 IJA elite divisions!!! [:@][:(] ...I was expecting an maxium of 1 Division. Needless to say that my troops pretty much got blastered due to the shock assault rule againts atolls. Well, either I will abandon those allied troops or I do finish those pesky Japanese off... I haven't made up my mind. (There are +60 000 enemy troops at Palau)

In Solomons I have seized the base at Gili Gili. Nice, now I do have firm control over the skies over there. Allthough this hasn't been contested lately

The only negative thing that has happened was that CV Bunker Hill was hit by 2 torpedoes. Launched from IJN submarine. Needless to say that the carrier will be out of action for remainder of the war. (+60 Sys/Fire damage)

So, we still do have few months to play and  I haven't decieded where the big hammer will fall on. I might go deep or not... It isn't exactly an easy decision.

The war ends in 10th March 1945!

Post by aztez »

Allied forces have signed peace with the Japanese. The following terms were agreed.

* Full economic and political independence for China, Philippines, DEI, Malaya and Vietnam.

* Allies recognize Japanese influence at Manchuko. Also Russia and US impress their political views regarding this area.

* Truk and Marshalls will be in US control. Albeit demilitarized.

* Marianas will become major US Naval base area.

* Emperor Hirohito will resign. Democratic elections will be held before January 1946.

* Japanese cut down their military by 80%.

This was my first ever PBEM and I'am proud to have finished it. The current situation calls for peace. I want to thank Vorsteher, Hawker and FDR for seeing this through.

What would have happened had we continued into 1946?

* There was an massive landings prepared towards Luzon. Initially some 300 000 men with massive battle fleet plus carrier cover. From Luzon I would have bombed the Home Islands into stoneage. Even with the substantial Japanese forces I doubt this operation could have stopped. I wouldn't have needed the whole Luzon area... just enough airfields for my LBA's.

* I would have skipped Singapore and moved a lot of troops into DEI and destroyed Japanese economical centers here.

* The Saigon pocket would have been annihilated. Some 200 000 Japanese would have lost their lives.

* I would have kept pushing with Chinese armed forces and once the Russians would have been active the pressure would have been tremendous in these parts.

* I would have slowly kept capturing bases in Southern Pacific with small forces.

* The OZ troops currently at Timor would have linked up with the Luzon army.

Also, I would like thank all the readers. I have given FDR my password and told him that this AAR is now open for both of us.
