Gas attack tactics?

Okay..

So... what is the best way to use gas?

I have tried two tactics.

The first is to bombard the target with gas and attack at the same time.

The second is to bombard 2 or 3 hexes (I think 2 is best but 3 works if you have good air recon) with gas on the first impulse, and then hit them again with gas and attack with troops on the second.

Anybody else have thoughts about how to use gas the most effectively on offense?

I assume you speak of advice for Germany ?

It is rather useless against French A infantry. First level gas makes a check against quality 3 times with a random number from 1 to 10.

So if you are going to use it on the western front try to target B infantry. This is where air support may come in handy. Even then you can only expect one "hit" on readiness against each unit in target hex per gas attack used.

I have no clue to how much readiness is lost but the key is to reduce readiness in target hex to minimize your casualties to increase your chances of successful taking that hex.

Basically the more units you attack the more gas you have to use to achieve the desired effect. Taking into consideration that using gas prevents you from using that gun for barraging i say use all gas in one volley and keep attacking the wounded units.

With luck you can get to gas level 1 after just one turn with Germany and on average after turn two.
