Chinese Invade Russia!!

During the current game 4 Chinese divisions have retreated from combat over the Russian border.

If I pursue them I assume that this will activate the Russian army, correct? [&:]

What are your views on the continued use of these troops? My personal view is that they should not cross the border back into China until the Russians are activated.

Yup I would have to agree with that..........they should be used by Russia on the Eastern front untill '45 then sent back ready for the attack against Japan.

I am not sure that I would be that restrictive with their reuse, especially if this is in the hinterlands.  And 4 divisions are not like a few planes that divert to a Soviet airbase.  How exactly would the Soviets keep them from reentering China whenever they wanted to?  I would probably propose the following to my opponent:
 
- The divisions cannot move anywhere but back into the hex they retreated from.
- The divisions turn replacements off and leave them that way until they reenter China.
 
Anyway those are my thoughts.

Correct.

Chinese units are not allowed to move into Russia/Mongolia.

I guess this means that you cannot order a Chinese unit to move into the SU, but apparently retreating is another matter.

I think if the Chineese units shock attack and pursue they can enter Russia too.

I agree with Pather Bait.
 
Given that you can't control the retreat path of your own units, they should be allowed to return to theater.  But with replacements off while in USSR territory, and making best speed back into China.  It might require some "consideration" form the IJA player, given that it's also not entirely fair that they be marched into 8 Divisions (or whatever - suicide); when they -should- have retreated towards a Chinese bases in the first place (except for the bonky ground combat rules, which you have little control over).

I would agree with Bradfordkay. If these are communist chinese units they should be allowed to rearm and reneter China at their leisure.

If they are Chinese nationals the SU would do their best to ignore them and encourage them to move on as quickly as possible.

Very similar thing happened to my chinese Vs. LittleJoe

IIRC i could not attack out of russia with them but i did send a search and rescue army that cleared a path for me to move them back into chinese territory. once there they were free to do whatever i wanted (back for refitting).

Otherwise Japan has to garrison a daft border with Russia forever (silly)
or chine loses permanently some units (not much better).

Fight for them ! imagine their pixellated little faces imploring rescue and do something about it [:D]
