Using H3 ANW Launcher 2.4 with ANW 3.8.0?

I try to set map and game preferences via the launcher. Then, whether I launch the game from the launcher or directly via a shortcut, the setting I have chosen are never carried over into my gaming session.

Am I doing this wrong? It is somewhat inconvenient having to reconfigure all my preferences each gaming session.

That is certainly not the intended behavior. What settings are you changing?

I am changing map like display depths and elevations and game preferences like staff assistants.

I think will just edit the INI file by hand to force my usual defaults.

Okay, I have edited the INI file and the game is ignoring the value for MapPreferences. Very odd.

The launcher is modifying the INI file, but not all the values in are being used. Some are like the window size, but map preferences are not.

3.8 uses a different launcher to previous versions - pretty sure this is down to screen size being easily modified (ie, before 3.8 you were stuck with 640 X 480, 800 X 600, 1024 X 768, 1280 X 1024).
 
I reckon you might have found a bug with the launcher but I can't be sure.
 
Suggest you report it to AGSI? Your choice, but Matrix just sell it, they are not the ones to ask for a fix.

Despite the launcher version, it is not really a launcher problem. Even when I edit the HARPOON3.INI file by hand, I have the same issues. The problem is with HARPOON3.EXE itself.

(For the moment, I will just configure the options each time I play.)

Have you tried saving your settings "in-game" via the Window -> Window Schemes -> Load/Save Scheme, menu? I've modified the default scheme to reflect my preferences and the various in game windows display as intended whenever I open a game.

It's possible to save various schemes and load the one you require when you require it. When you open the single player version of the game you even have the option of loading the default setting or not. It may be that the default is overiding your changes?
