2.0 ?

Post by 22sec »

A question for those familiar with the upcoming 2.0, are there any big changes to the PDS? Also with exact positions now like FB, FS, LT, etc can old formations be changed to incorporate this or would you have to create new formations?

Trying to recall.  I think that the offense has no problems using old plays with the new version.  Oh but you now have G1 G2 and so on, not LG and RG.  Defense was another matter.  For a variety of reasons, user set zones, the newer m2m coverage system and position breakdown, plus the new version not putting the correct postions in the correct places (the CB labeled SA example), I completely scrapped all the old defenses I had done and started over from scratch.

The blocking has been improved also

I'm not an expert in defensive plays but like nmleague those are the plays that will need to be touched up

offensively I haven't noticed anything strange.

I downloaded and installed Gary's 8 man playbook and it was working on the 2.0 version but the scoring is a bit high because of the defense

While PATIENTLY [&o] waiting for 2.0 I've been tinkering with some play desgin issues. The main one being stopping the outside run. I have found in the current form giving a Safety who was assigned a zone coverage a read assignment first helps. The only downside to the read first is on a play action pass. I noticed tonight after the fake it's like the defenders forget to go cover the receivers, but I'm still experimenting. What have you seen in 2.0 that might effect stopping plays designed to attack the field horizontelly?

Good to hear about the offense though. I've put a lot of work into doing all kinds of offensive formations. Espcially more Spread type of formations to accompany my college teams. Have a formation where the HB is lined up at as a receiver. That was fun designing some jet sweeps. Would be nice to be able to hand off to a WR though. David?????

Actually I think a read logic is a final logic, by that I mean once that logic is given and logic added later is ignored.  Maybe David can clarify that, maybe it was differenent for MF1 but for MF2 I think its true.

So I think the player you are giving it to is actually on reading, on a pass play he probably isnt playing zone.  I guess the only way to tell would be if you had him moving to a zone, then you could actually see him dropping to or moving to.  Other wise if the read pass they will still cover receivers if the ball is thrown to the area around them.

In my latest playbooks I usually have some defenses primarily for stopping the run.  They have 1 or 2 SA or inverts/monsters with read logic.  They fly to the ball on outside runs.

nmleague is correct. You can't have a defender processing [READ] and [ZONE] at the same time. They're mutually exclusive commands.

thanks
