Is there a tutorial?

As the thread states, is there a tutorial? Also, if so, is it in a pdf file or is it in game like a set of missions? Thank you for any replies. Any other sites to get more info on these games? Thanks!

Plenty of tutorial scenarios, but they aren't interactive. There's one in the manual, but also five 'boot camp' tutorials for each of the three games. You'll see the scenarios at the top of the scenario selection list but the blurb is hidden away as an MS Word document in each game directory.

Try The Wargamer for more info. It's a bit scattered as it was written in regard of the originak games, and not the Matrix combo re-vamp.

I have a tutorial from the old Europe Aflame series from Talonsoft. Still kept it, althought the cd is scrap. ( EFII)

I typically have played SSG type PBEM, which is a doddle (finish a game, click a button and it creates your e-mail with the files in it). This is a little bit more fiddly, and presumably I have to buy winzip from somewhere (we have it at work, don't have it at home at the moment). I've managed to mislay the manual in the mess of the house at home (I blame the children of course [:)]). Is there a similar tutorial that takes you through this exercise? Thanks

Go and grab 7-zip. It's free, creates zip files and other formats and reads most compression formats.Really nice tool and easy to use.

also, the tried and true method of naming your PBEM game file with '00' at the start of the file, eg 00cm-rk.bte has always worked well over time as it means it will pop up at the top of the folder regardless whether you have sorted by name or date.

I vaguely remember writing DOS batch files years ago that would automatically zip the PBEM file ready for file transmission; long gone now though

You could also try winrar for a compression program (but create .zip files), I don't think the demo version expires.

One caveat about sending zip files. A lot of mail servers now will not accept a file with a .zip extension. Some *$!@## hackers figured out a way to embedd viruses in zip files. I usually rename mine to .piz and so inform the recipient so they can name it back to .zip after they get it.
