Post by Marten »

it's 01/01/44 in my game and most of the japanese fleet is at the bottom of the sea.
i want to add some resources/oil to boost enemy industry, to at least see some planes in the air. is it somehow possible?

best idea I've ever heard was to switch sides for a while and play Japan.

I suppose you could try playing around with "the AI modules" in the Scenario Editor but I'm not sure that anybody really has much of an idea of how to do it. Thing is, I think that once a module is selected (even if you do get it to work), the AI will employ the same units in the same old way. To get the AI to act differently you have to select a different module/scenario so the modules have very little replay value. And the work that must be put in before hand is substantial. Probably others here who can address this better - mine are more or less first impressions from examining the Editor.

You can't edited a saved game. Niceguys suggestion about swapping sides and helping out the japs for a while is about the best you can do if you want to keep that game going.

Matrix admitted a while ago that the game is too complex to program the AI to do anything worthwhile in anything after the first 6 months or so. Various peoples experience of AI programming have pretty much confirmed that it is a black art and it takes lot of work for little results.

You could edit a scenario and put more oil/resources in home islands. Also, if you really want to beef up the Japs give them more pilots/month. (About 10 times more.) You would have to start again at the beginning though.

Maybe it's (past) time to "downgrade" to UV; the scenarios aren't as long, so the AI works a little better, esp. after you alter its objectives w/the UV campaign editor.

Alternatively it might be time to Upgrade to PBEM - human plays very different to the AI[;)]
