Bassman, how do you get a 2 toned colored smeared effect on a helmet like the oregon ducks.

I looked at some other pictures on other sites so I could see the helmet from different angles. I looked at www.gettyimages.com and www.goducks.com. I also searched Google images.

Some of the images looked as if the helmet just had a metallic sheen. Others looked as if the helmet had a yellow metallic sheen. I even found pictures of a helmet that was worn for a bowl game that changed colors depending on the lighting and angle. http://www.bevosports.com/2006/12/17/or ... -the-line/ This helmet was mainly a puke yellow. 4 or 5 years ago Jeff Gordon ran a paint job that was called Chrome Illusion. The color was developed by his main sponsor, Dupont. He ran this paintjob at night races and it changed colors going around the track. It changed from red to blue to purple.

Getting back to the subject, to make a yellow sheen try making a yellow layer above the green layer and adjust the opacity. This layer may have to go on top of the metallic layers (overlay and multiply). Experiment to get the results you want. As long as you keep your original layered image you can't screw up. If the yellow is more of a fade or gradient you can try a gradient fill. I use Paint Shop Pro and I'd try a gradient fill or you can make a mask. Another option is to create a layer and use the airbrush tool. If you use a "fine mist" you can gradually add yellow highlights.

Last year I read that Nike designed multiple jerseys and pants for the Oregon football team. Using different color combinations, the team has dozens of different uniforms they can wear. Have fun making 60 uniforms for just one team. [:D] Hope this give you some options. Maybe some else can offer another solution.
