Specification for sound files?

Post by BigDuke66 »

Just working on some sound files and I would like to know what are the specifications for those SFX files.

Just checkd thru some of them and till now I found mp3 & wmv.
What is the standard file?
What formats does WitP support?
Can I use waves?

i dunno - everything is in SFX - but they play ok on Windows Media Player. There might be a converter around to convert WAV or MP3 files to sfx (that would be my guess)... i've never tried fiddling with them. Other people have changed some of the music over to things they like (i've been told), so someone else might be able to give a more definitive answer.

If I recall, the sound files are actually one of the standard formats with the extension name changed.  I just opened one with VLC and it says the codec is wma2.

I worked thru them with GSpot and found these formats.

MPEG-1 Layer 3 44100Hz 192 kb/s tot Stereo
MPEG-2 Layer 3 22050Hz 64 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo
0x0161 (WMA v2) 0x01:44100Hz 128 kb/s tot (2 chnls)
0x0161 (WMA v2) 0x01:44100Hz 96 kb/s tot (2 chnls)

Seems that wave is also supported cause the sounds I made run fine.
