I think his point being that you only ever has to enter a strategy phase with one transport on shipping orders in both the North Sea and the Baltic.

UK transports can't enter the Baltic, so to do that you'd have to build a Russian one...and you'd have to be at least contesting the Baltic for it to work IIRC - if hte CP controlled it then the transport wouldn't achieve anything regardless.

You could back in the beginning but perhaps that has been changed in later patches (yes i usually don't ship anything to Russia) ?

Mind you that contesting a sea area does not necessarily prohibit the transport in carrying out its shipping order. According to Frank that solely relies upon enemy fleet strength in the sea area.

6.  As soon as the TE player gets the baltic and the northsea, and then sends ALL of his Industry to Russia, it's all over for the CP.  Austria usually hasn't even taken Serbia before Russian production is 10+.  This results in the GE player having to pull off of France to defend.  If the Russian player plays conservatively, like only replacing used HQ's and storing up replacements and entrenching, a human CP can destory himself in France and Destroy himself in Russia.  It's just knarly....

I was wondering how yuo do this - the British and French fleets cannot enter the Baltic....so the only way this can happen is if the German gets careless and forgets to maintain a naval presence in the Baltic and the Russian coincidentally manages to sortie his warships on that exact same turn.

So "as soon as" is unlikely ever to happen - 3 DN's and a couple of DD's (againt he Brit Sub that always seems to end up there! ) for the CP closes the Baltic for the Russians. If the Russians do come out to play they get hammered and they dont' have the resources to fix their fleet.

While it is definately not a given it is certainly possible for the Russians to contest the Baltic. It would depend on when they tried. After the German fleet tangles with the British fleet might be a good time if there was a lot of damage incurred by the German ships

Yeah but typically German players of this game aren't stupid enough to tangle with hte british fleet - the brits have to keep spending points on naval "just in case" bacause a German control of hte Atlantic would be a disaster....so hte germans stay as a "fleet in being", and sned 3-4 capital ships to the baltic each turn......which also costs of course, but it's well worth it to prevent the Brits sending a move's resources to the Russians!!
