Mobilization to Russian Front

Post by Kingsport »

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but how do you reassign German troops to the Eastern front if you want to play a Russia-First campaign. I figured out how to send the HQ units, but I don't couldn't figure out how to send the corps. I eventually sent the corps by rail, but I couldn't move anyone on the first turn and it still took most of 1914. (By that time, a russian unit had overrun one of my re-deployed HQs.) If the Germans really planned on Russia first, they would have sent the troops there in the first place anyway. How do I shift corps during the initial mobilization?

Great game, BTW

ehh just the same as you do with every other unit during the mobilization phase. Left click on a counter and left click on a new hex to put it into ?

I tried that and it didn't work. I'll try again.

Make sure you are doing it during that once only mobilization phase at the beginning of the game, and not during the first activation or the first orders phase.
Any relationship between what I say and reality is purely coincidental.

sometimes it takes more than one set of  clicks to move units during mobilization.  Some units just don't "take".  I know there was a time when one artillery unit refused to be deployed no matter what I did.

Yes and you can sort through a stack with right clicks.

You can also chose a different setup to load at the mobilisation phase - there are 4 IIRC - one of which is "Moltke" - which is a Russia first one.

you can then tweak this to suit yourself, and save it (with or withoutr a new name) so you can use it again whenever you like.

Thanks. I loaded 1.1 and tried again. It works fine now. I don't know if the download helped or if I just had problems before.[:)]

When you shuffle the stack during deployment you also select the new top unit, and if you then left-click you will select the original top unit (often a hq) instead. Took me a while to figure it out.
