Jap 240 mm How in chs

Post by trollelite »

These artillery pieces serve as coastal gun in army-administrated forts. Shouldn't they be replaced by 240 mm CD How of allied?

240 mm How 's accuracy is 2, that means they are very ineffective against ships, they can rarely hit anything. Most CD gun of similiar caliber has an accuracy value of about 35 - 50.

The 24 cm Howitzer device is also used - or should also be used - as land artillery. Here values in the 2 to 4 range are quite normal. [See the 149/150 mm Field Gun for example]

The problem is, a CD gun with 2 accuracy just equals a CD gun non-existing. It need at least 15-20 accuracy so it could be reasonably expected to hit anything. Of course this is just CHS problem, but any scenario maker should be aware this.

Yeah, it also serve in some heavy artillery unit. But as CD gun it need accuracy. An 240 mm piece with accuracy 2 is still a good heavy gun, but useless as coastal gun under current game engine. I know you all strive to achieve maximal history accuracy, but certain flaws of current game engine should also be considered.

Well, another bug I found by chs is minekaze class destroyer. It first upgraded to 42/3 configuration, it still has a 45/3 configuration, but as the 42/3 configuration upgrade to itself, so these ships could never be upgraded to Type 1945. Is there similar problem by RHS?

You are correct. That needs to be fixed.

Thanks,

No - there is no 1945 version in RHS. But perhaps there should be?

EDIT OOPS - depends on the scenario: In the strictly historical scenarios there is a late war Minekaze - and it is set to upgrade properly. In EOS and AIO you can upgrade sooner - to a sort of DE type vessel. IRL one vessel upgraded to a Kaiten carrier - but we cannot upgrade just one ship unless we separate it out to begin with.

Tell me about why artillery is OK with a value of 2 but CD artillery is not? Since many guns are used in both roles - this seems to be a probem. What happens if we use values like 20 for land guns?
