Ok my username originates from my Uni days 10 years ago.

Basically it was during ther first couple of months of Uni and me and a group of lads in my hall were walking into town that night. We'd been drinking for quite a few hours....I was day dreaming and someonme said a joke.....1 minute later "I said oh yeah that reminds me of.....".....my hall mate said "nice one Speedy". Stuck ever since. The cool thing was almost everyone in Uni knew me as Speedy from that day forth and no one knew why but people guessed a multitude of different reasons[:D]

Even to this day a few old uni mates only know me as Speedy and not my real name[8D]

I actually thought you were a Pratchett fan...

I had the same thought. I still read his new ones soon after they come out, but I think the books he did around the time he wrote Moving Pictures were among his best.

Hi all,

My nickname is self given and it dates around 15 years ago when I first started on-line communication and gaming - especially on-line flying (I couldn't find anything more suiting so I choose something I always related to).

BTW, the name itself is _VERY_ significant to me because I really was born on that day when they walked on the moon... [8D]

Hmmmm. My folks made me watch it. I was four, and I actually believe I remember it.

Interesting thread.

My login is based on my last name and the habit I have of playing the axis side in wargames. I also tend to play as the Confederacy for ACW... must just be that I like to play losers. :)

Anyway - I'm of German heritage, and my name is the old German spelling of Feuer which means fire. So instead of Lightning War (Blitzkrieg), I figure Fire War would work, but with my last name instead of the modern Feuer.

Monter is my high school nickname. Monter in Polish means a man who fixes or is installing something, for example cable TV.

Trismegistos appeared later when I read a book of R.Ramkin, i like the sound of this word. In real history Hermes Trismegistos was one of Greek gods. In Greek it means (i believe so) "three times as great".

Not much of it anymore, but he used to be good. The "goodboy laddie" reference is from his book Moving Pictures, which features a very faithful and VERY dumb dog named Laddie.
