give ur carriers 1 naval yard all for themselves for repairs, battleships another(if desired) or have 2 yards for carriers so a yard can focus on 1 carrier at a time, and give the other yards for the rest of ur fleet
sumtimes i mix it up a bit

Don't put more than 4 ARs in any one port, as that is the maximum number that will be used.

Hmmm... for some reason I was thinking it was 5.

I aim for 3 AR's in each Allied port with a shipyard. Then have 1 group of 3 AR's and 2 AD's that follow invasion TF to help save any damaged ships in the nearest port to the invasion. I get my first group of 7 AR's in 2 weeks and they will help the WC shipyards turn around times of AP/AK/TK plus any ships coming in for refit/upgrade. I still have Tennessee in Seattle from PH at 82 sys damage (down from 99 after attack).
A benefit of playing CHS is the Dutch AR's I got and now in use in Australia. [;)]

Events went pretty well as planned in the Aleutians. Between PT's, my light surface combat TF, and my CV's I sunk two MSW's and three AP's. It could have been better, but I will take it. My bombardment TF hit Kiska a decent blow destroying 12 Zeros and one Emily after being attacked by 60 Zeros and 6 Bettys. The TF's AAA fought off Tojo's minions, damaging 5 Bettys.
For some reason my DM's failed to lay mines at Umnak so they are now directed to Adak Island to lay their eggs. My Bombardment TF is retiring to Adak Island as are my CV's, although some of the bombers are hitting the Jap troops besieging Adak Island. Newly arrived BB's in the theater are going to bombard Atka Island for no other purpose than to show Dive the Aleutians will not fall easily. Of course all of my Navy is prepared to retreat towards Anchorage as soon as I see some Jap carriers. Speaking of Jap carriers, the CVL Shoyo hit a mine in Paramashiro. I'll bet Dive cursed a blue streak over that one!
China was the scene of more give and take. I shot some down, he blasted some troops, I blasted some troops, etc. etc. My Chinese are marching on Nanning.

Dont over commit your AV units into Alaska, for a lot of the year aircraft dont fly and could be of better use elsewhere

I am not. I am primarily deploying CD, armor, and infantry as well as some engineers to boost my neglected fort levels. The 1st MAW Aviation regiment is nearing Anchorage though because I have B-17's there, other LBA enroute, and 30 Aviation Support points in place at the moment. When you mentioned AV units, I assume from the context you meant Av support units.

More of the same in China, although the weather is clearing a little, so time for more of the Aluminum Overcast. My first units moving towards Nanning made it to the first hex on the road. I imagine Dive has spotted it because he tends to not miss much.
In the Aleutians my TF's have pulled back to the Adak Island vicinity. My new BB TF did not bombard this turn. I have spilt up all my BB TF's to bombard all of the Jap held bases in the vicinity of Adak, and my carrier aircraft are hitting the troops on Adak Island. My first real reinforcements for Anchorage are arriving this turn. I do believe Alaska is safe from the Yellow Peril now.
In the South Pacific, all of my transports and escorts for the 2nd USMC get to NZ in the next couple of turns, then they form up and journey to Noumea to pick up the Div. Unfortunately all of my surface combat ships are elsewhere at the moment, so retaking Luganville will have to be quick.

Here they come! It is time to run away more. My picket subs have discovered the Jap Navy, running at high speed apparently, towards Dutch Harbor. All of my combat ships, excepting the PT's are also running at high speed east to Anchorage. Currently, I have mucho reinforcements landing there, as such it has become my center of operations. I managed to bombard and/or bomb several Jap holdings in the Aleutians. I did little physical damage, but I hope to have caused damage to organizations. I cannot hold the Archipelago, but I hope to delay Dive's ambitions as much as I can, because my strength is beginning to grow.
In China, yes, Dive discovered my troops moving towards Nanning. For some bizarre reason, the best of my troops outside Canton refused to move west towards Nanning, so I am trying a little subterfuge by ordering then to one of my bases, and then re-routing them to Nanning. I have rebased the AVG and some Spitfires to Wuchow to cover the Chinese heading for Nanning.

Tomorrow my two undamaged CV's dock in Anchorage along with a significant percentage of the Allied combat ships in the game. TBF's become available tomorrow also - a good thing.
Dive, for reasons I can't fathom, is keeping his fleet in Kiska's environs, not sweeping eastward towards Dutch Harbor. Fine by me, time is on my side. An arty unit on Adak Island has been knocking off 150+ Jap troops every turn, plus bombardment damage a few turns ago, and occasional air attacks must have boosted Dive's fatigue and discombobulation in his troops. It may take a while for him to take the place.
China continues in its stalemate. However, Chinese troops are nearing Nanning, which is still indicating only one unit in place. I am starting to feel good about this little spoiling attack.

This was the shortest replay in memory, in other words, very little happened other than a scattering of LBA attacks in China and in the SOPAC.
NOPAC: Fortress Anchorage is unloading the latest batch of reinforcements, including 5 coastal AA units. When Dive takes airbases in the Aleutians, I want to make his air attacks as costly as possible. The decision to send the Yorktown and the Hornet back to SF was reached this turn. I am receiving 3 TBF's per turn so it will take them 10 days to outfit the TB squadrons embarked, and the two carriers are due their 7/42 upgrades. The Saratoga is nearing SF with 24 SYS, the Wasp arrives in 13 days, and the AR's appear in 8. The Sara and the Wasp will both need TBF's as well as some damage repair. Unfortunately the Lex appears stuck at 50 SYS no matter what I try. We will see her later in the war. When the AR's get here, I will send the Lex to another port with them to hopefully speed the repair of the Sara, and the outfits of Hornet and Yorktown. In a couple of days, after I re-position a Replenishment TF at sea, I will sortie my BB's from Anchorage for strategic intercepts of Jap shipping closer to the Home Islands. Dive seems to have climbed down a hole on Kiska Is. for some reason, but I doubt he will remain there long. The KB has been spotted moving towards Adak Is., therefore my Marauders on Dutch are on Naval Attack duty.
CHINA: A much reduced force than what I had dispatched now in Nanning. Strung out along the roads are other troops that I will need to carry the place. I set one of the Corps in Nanning to Bombardment to see what Dive has there. Dive has been hitting me in China with scattered LBA attacks with second rate bombers. I have two Spitfire squadrons in two different cities, and will have another tomorrow. In a few weeks, Dive will have to concentrate his attacks again or suffer grievous injury to his second string bombers.
I noticed an important landmark. Dive has lost a number of ships in the Aleutians, mostly AP's. He has finally surpassed me in ships sunk!

Aleutians:
Dive is still lurking in Kiska. What is he up to?
West Coast:
I finally decided to follow some of NYGiants advice a while back. The Lex seemed stuck at 51 SYS so I created a little Air Combat TF and moved it to sea a couple of hexes. The TF is 2 hexes from SF and now returning, the only difference is the Lex is now at 52 SYS. [:@]
SF has been largely emptied of damaged ships and is now ready for the Lex to return, and the Sara to dock - only a couple of turns from now. The AR's are a week away, and I am getting impatient. It will also be nice to get the MLE's at the same time. I intend to send one to SOPAC, but use the others to mine the shiznit out of Alaskan bases I can reach.
SOPAC:
The transport TF destined to load the 2nd Marines for Luganville is 4 hexes from Noumea, led by MSW's to clear any residual mines there a couple of turns before the AP's get there. Last turn I spotted a Jap sub in the New Hebrides. A well-led ASW DD TF smashed it pretty well - I want to minimize opposition if I can, obviously. My attack on Luganville would be sheer folly if I hadn't tied up so much of Dive's attention in the North because all I have to defend the attack is mediocre LBA, about 10 DD's, and a lot of intestinal fortitude. I believe I can take the place quickly, withdraw most, if not all of the Marines back to Noumea. If Dive takes the place back, so be it. He will be reacting to me instead of vice versa.
China:
Chaos. There is no other word for the place. Dive has a sole unit on the trails two hexes west of Chengting for what reason I cannot fathom. My troops in the region will maintain their positions until I can figure out what is going on, but none of my positions are endangered by the little fellow whichever direction he goes. Dive has a unit in the boonies bordering on the Changsha - Chungking road, but I have a bunch of troops in the hex also. I tried attacking it several turns in a row, but lack of supplies reduced their attack effectiveness to ineffectual. They have been moving to the road, with little progress for about a week and a half. These troops originally came from Ichang, which now has a number of Jap units creeping towards it. The place is hardly defenseless with 1400 AV's in place and level 9 forts, but I have a couple of decent sized heretofore reserve Corps marching to Ichang. The displaced units will eventually replace them in the reserve.
Nanning has about 160 AV's, and the attackers present and accounted for are about 800 AV's, and attack they will. We will see what happens. I have a couple more big, fresh Corps marching to the sound of the guns to help out. This turn, my Canton besiegers retreated to the wooded crossroads NW of Canton to hold until we see what happens at Nanning. I kept the troops at Canton long after I decided I couldn't take the place to hopefully distract Dive from my flanking movement on Nanning. Apparently it has worked, Canton has 9 enemy units, and Nanning has 1. Good luck boys!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your AAR, so thanks for the update.
I wouldn’t be to dishearten with the Lex, I mean the sys damage has at least moved so you know it’s not bugged at 51 or anything like that anymore. Hopefully that little jaunt into the Pacific has done the trick and now you’ll be able to repair her speedily with your new AR’s.
Best of luck with her and your game.

Thanks for your nice comments. I have noticed your login within the thread a few times. I can't always post, or post in as much detail as I would like due to RL concerns that will last for another 2.5 months, but hopefully I will be able to provide more detail in the future.

Dive is continuing his mine-laying hijinks in India. Considering he has laid mines in two ports near Madras recently, it is little wonder what the sub I spotted (and reported hit) in Tricomlee this turn is up to. I re-routed an ASW TF to Columbo, and have detailed the two MSW's in Madras to return to Tricom. [8|]
Nanning may turn out to be a success afterall. Dive has a third of a Div there with level 4 (now) forts, and I have another 600 AV's on the RR nearing the place. The attack odds were 1:1, and nearly 2:1, so I am continuing the attack instead of resting. Taking Nanning will hardly win the war for me, but it would be a moral victory of sorts.
Anchorage has 600 odd AV's, two Marine CD units, and seven Coast AA units in residence now. I HOPE Dive attacks the place. In a few weeks, the place will be wall to wall minefields also. Dive still hasn't budged from Kiska, and I continue to wonder why. I spotted the Yamato in Kiska this turn by the by.
Both the Sara and the Lex dock in SF tomorrow. I really need them back quickly.
I have lost sight of the KB; I am growing worried about all the ships hunkered down in Anchorage. Next turn they sortie....I think.
Dive's aircraft losses have nearly reached 450 more than mine already. Cool.
