I have a quick question about a problem I am having with placing devices on a Ship. I am beginning to experiment with how to use the games Editors and in trying to make a new ship. ( Just to see if I did it right, not worried about historical accuracies since i'm deleteing it.) Also, I saved the scenario I was experimenting with in slot 31, both Editors too I do read the instructions every once in a while! hehe. Every time I would put a device in slots 11-20 it would change the facing of the devices in slots 1-10. I compared what I was making to an existing ship already in game, I kept to the same perameters as to layout of devices and quantity as the existing ship I was using for a Model, ( In this case it's the Yamato) I have weapons in slots 1-10 , all i'm trying to do is add radar in slots 11 and 12 and every time I choose the facing, it changes the facings in slots 1 and 2. Again I tried to follow an example of an existing ship with Radar in the same 2 slots, 11 and 12, but after I choose the facing, I can hit the button to change back to slots 1-10, and the facing has changed in slots 1 and 2 also. I was using the 00-A(??) facing for Radar. When i switch back to slots 1-10, the first 2 slots have changed to the exact same facing.
Ok I'm baffled and it's probably an oversite.
Thanks in advance for any
and all help.

Yes, I am using the stock editors that came with game. Scenario Editor and Database Editor. As per manual you have to use both and save any changes to Database Editor on both. As far as I can determine, the only Editor you use to change/make any units is in Database Editor. It's there that I'm having the problem. Is there a better Editor to use?
Thanks

PS: I am using stock Radars in Editor. I believe they were Dev#'s 139 and 140 Japanese Radar.

No, you only need to use the Scenario Editor once, when you create a new scenario. All database editing is done in the Database Editor.
I repeat my question from before: is this a new radar type, or are you adding one that's already present. Secondly, are you 100% certain that you're adding to slots#11 and 12? The little button above the slots in the class window has to read "11-20".
EDIT: Okay, crossing post here.[;)]
Yes, there is a much, much, much better editor to be found here:
Since the latest update of WITP, this problem occurs in the newest editor (6.0).
It does NOT occur in WITP Editor X.
It does NOT occur in EITPExcel.
In the ORIGINAL 1.0 WITP editor, it occurs - but you can workaround it by IMMEDIATELY saving BEFORE you leave a screen. I mean - if you are on device 1-10 list - save before you go to device 11-20 list.
I ONLY use Editor 6.0 to update all ships in a class - or all aircraft in a type. It is not safe to use it for anything else.
Ohhhh, I was under the impression that each time I saved I had to save to both Editors. I know I make all the changes in Database Editor. If after initial New scenario saves of both Editors, I only need to save to Database Editor after any changes thats nice to know. Yes I'm sure I clicked button above to switch from slots 1-10 to 11-20 I did it so many times trying to figure out why it kept doin' what it was doin' I had nightmares of the Evil slot button. Thanks for the link to a better Editor, I will go there, download it to a new folder, read the read-me so I know how to install it correctly and give it a try. I'm gonna assume that it puts both Editors basically together, if thats the right term, so you only have to open it and get busy.
Thanks

Question about Editor X, I downloaded it, but I don't quite understand how to make it work with game. It's unzipped, I made a shortcut to desktop, but what do I do to get it to access the information in the game? Is there some part of it that I need to put in folder where stock editors are or what? lol, plz keep in mind that I really am a NOOB with these kinds of things, but I try hard to learn.
Thanks

PS: hehe And no laughin' either!!

Ok, I made a shortcut to desktop like i said, but what does it mean when he says " Pin to Start Menu or copy and paste anywhere preferrable". Apparently I still have Editor X in folder I un-zipped it to. What do I do, or where do I put that stuff? I right clicked on the red boardered white sigh with the red dot and made a shortcut to desktop but when I open the Editor there isn't anything there.
Plz bear with me, I'm old hehe

When I downloaded Editor X, I created a folder in My Docs called WitPEditorX. I went to folder, file was a zip file, I unzipped and extracted files to same folder and there were 6 items in the folder, 3 were different readme's and the other three were, The red boardered sign with the red dot, that I rightclicked and made shortcut to desktop with, the GdiPlus.dll file, which I apparently don't need because I'm running windows XP and already have it? And the third file is the WitpEditorX.exe.manifest file. I haven't done anything with any of it, except make the shortcut. Since everything is still in my original folder that I downloaded the zip file to, and the only thing I've done is make a shortcut to desktop, how is it going to interact with the scenario files? I figure something has to go somewhere to make it work. I read the usage in the Quickstart I'm not sure I understand what edit controls he's talking about, when I open Editor there are no scenario files from game to open, and it won't let me rightclick any of those tabs. lol, I know this is gonna be something really simple that I've overlooked, or am overlooking, so plz be patient, eventually the light will come on, and all will be right in the world again...
Thanks for the continued help

I did that, when I open file and click on open scenario, Scenario List window comes up and there aren't any scenario's listed. It's completely blank. On left side is a box with c:\ at the top, under it is a big box with apparent path to Editor X. On right side at top is a box with another apparent path to Editor X in My Docs, and in the big box below with the numbers for the different scenarios is nothing. just a numbers list from 001 to 200, with none listed next to each number. How do I get the Editor to recognize what I want, or how do I create the necessary file/scenario to place into Editors scenario list. I can't right click on any of the buttons at the top of Editor, nothing happens. Again, I know it's something simple that I'm overlooking in the set-up of the Editor, or in the transfer of information, and when y'all finally figure out what I haven't done, we're gonna have a good laugh, and then your gonna tell me Never do it again!! hehe...
Thanks

Yahhhh!! I finally got it figured out. I knew it was gonna be something very simple that I wasn't doing, and I also know you guys are gonna point and laugh, long and hard. Remember I asked about what the Author of Editor meant when he said "Pin to Start Menu"? Well, I didn't do that. hehe VERY important step.. I wanted to say thankies to everyone for your patience and help, and I promise I'll never do it again...hehe

PS: Now if I can only figure out how to get the correct path to the artwork I'd be happier than a pig in a mud puddle.
