WiR Barbarosa

Post by DeadInThrench »

Hmmm.... was thinking.... it would be nice (!)... if there was a WiR Barbarosa scenario.... just covering the first months of the campaign... in fact ending at the end of September, about the time the bad weather starts coming.

The reason for this..... is you would have a 15 turn (or so) game.... that could be played PBEM in a relatively short time.... even done as fast as in a week but usually not running more than a month or two... instead of the campaign games which can be 200 turns or so and take ages to complete.

Now.... you would think putting a Barbarosa scenario together would be easy... just copy the campaign game and change the end date and victory conditions/cities but... I brought up EditWiR and.... apparently there is no way do to this (tell me if I am wrong).

So... unfortunate but looks like this isn't possible. Guess you could do it with the campaign game and house rules as far as end date and victory conditions but.... would be nice if this were in the game. Also, there are the Typhoon and Case Blue scenarios but.... although interesting against the computer.... lack the significance that a Barbarosa scenario would have.

Whatever.... just thought I'd post this... any comments?

There was a little game with the same theme. You had to roll a 6 to get a chunk of your opponent. I'm trying to recall the mane of it. Came in a little box. It only dealt with the first phase of the WIR.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

I wasn't thinking of a simpler game.... just a WiR scenario that begins at the start of the campaign and could be played out in a reasonable amount of time.... to the point.... where there would be repetitive play... not just play the game once or twice and you are starting to collect social security.

Maybe the only way to do this would be with house rules where the players essentially agree to assign points for cities and base victory after the last turn on these.

Whatever.... I guess I would be willing to try this if others were interested... albeit I have never played the campaign game as either side (played and won the Typhoon scenario in Second Front but that was a while ago).
