Big B's Mod - Allied Supply/Reources/Oil

Post by ny59giants »

I am getting ready to start a PBEM with John 3rd and have looked at the Allied side briefly. My question is the amount of Resources/Oil available at the start in the USA. That looks to be a lot compared to what I get in CHS which has to repair most of the Oil/Resource centers throughout and takes a few years to get it done.

There is more at start - because you are now producing all of your aircraft On-Map in the USA, not much in the way of US aircraft is off-map anymore, so there has to be enough to keep production flowing. Also, there are more West Coast dedicated troops in the USA to support - they will need supply as well.

You won't be able to move it over seas any faster. In fact, your shipping has less capacity than stock WitP. There was plenty of supply available in the ConUS in 1941 - it wasn't going to Europe in large numbers until after Midway. The problem was getting trained full strength units and supply over seas. In this respect you won't be any better off than in stock.

EDIT:
Consider supply, oil, and fuel is you gas, bombs, beans, bullets, wood, and concrete. The US was pretty well swimming in those from 1941 onwards. What the USA was short of (relatively) was artillery pieces, tanks, machine guns, rifles, radar sets, aircraft - and trained formations. Now all of those are still going to be produced at the same rate as stock (initially less for some aircraft). So even there there is supply and oil available - it doesn't give you more "stuff" sooner....and you still have to move it over seas with ships that have a bit less capacity than most in stock.
Look at oil production alone:
Crude Oil
In millions of metric tonnes:
1. United States = 833.2
2. Soviet Union = 110.6
3. United Kingdom = 90.8
4. Germany = 33.4 (including 23.4 synthetic)
5. Romania = 25.0
6. Canada = 8.4
7. Japan = 5.2
8. Hungary = 3.2

Where you do get more "soldiers" are in West Coast permanent (non-movable) bases. The reason there is more there than in stock is - they were available, and second, so as to make invading the United States less attractive (that was never even considered as realistic by Japan).

Hey Brian!

I got your Extended Map 1.4 Version loaded and opening turn sent!  AB's Map is wondrous.  You have certainly made China into a Japanese nightmare and I cannot wait to see what other 'surprises' lurk out there.  ANYWAY--thought you might like some feedback...

Thanks John, I appreciate the feed back.
China, remember - you can whip/hold off what the Chinese have that's mobile (take them serious though, put together mobile reserves). You should only sink into the tar-baby if you try to annihilate all of China...setting all those tied down Chinese troops free to move about . Also take note; there were semi-Stalingrad sized battles in China during the war (after 1941) - so be prepared.

Thanks,
B

Thanks for the reminder about China.  I HATE ground combat within this game!  NO Stalingrads...
