RHS mix ups? SS's

Post by Hanzberger »

Ahh Just curious about something in the Panama area. There are 3 SS class ships. Now that tells me that they should be subs. Click on them and they are boats in the picture but subs as far as info. SS S51, SS Bonita, SS barracuda.
Playing Scen 2 vs Ai currently

Sounds like ship art issues. And we DO have ship art issues. TWO different people are working on this matter - one on our regular art (which I think is done and posted) and one on "standard" art (art to rules standard between Matrix, CHS and RHS - and possibly others someday I suppose). This latter is definitely not completed. For a while ALL S boats showed up as something else - indeed most US submarines. But it might be a pointer issue - so I will check because I control the pointers. Back in a few. [RHS ship art is not yet cought up with development and is being debugged - by people competent in art - which does not include me. I bought all the scanners and tools, but never had to learn to use them because I got adopted by Matrix Forum artists.]

OK - in the latest RHS standard ship art package (admitted to be incomplete) - bitmap 99 is wrong- that covers Barracuda, Bonita and Bass - and any other vessel pointing at class 1353 (I don't think there are any). I will ask Mifune to copy bitmap 103 to 99, and anyone who understands file management can do the same, in both Allied ship art sections, as a temporary fix. 103 because it has no big deck guns and looks right.

You left out letters from S-51! This is not a US submarine at all - but a Soviet one - and the SN in front means "Soviet Navy". Checking. This applies to all ships using class 1588 - there are six in all (SN S-51 to 56) - and it is probably my fault or an editor induced error: it points at bitmap 126 and the class art is in bitmap 127. This can be changed in the ship class file, slot 1588, bitmap field and will be part of x.785 update. A problem with your report is that the ship should NOT be in Panama - that is an out of date file. I had it enter there long ago - but got corrected - seems it LEFT the Soviet Far East and went to ETO via Panama - and should appear at Vladivostok. IF it is still in error in some scenario - that will also be patched by the art fix (which is a copy of the record that is right in all respects). Location should be 875. Wow - it is wrong in ALL scenarios - somehow we have old records still here - as if the corrections were never done. This was corrected TWICE! Ugh. Well - it will also be right in x.785 - ship record change. [Possibly I never made the correction - our resident Pole will be delighted as he pointed out the error - and just put it on my to do list and never did it]
