CP food supplies in 1918

Post by SMK-at-work »

I thought I'd start a seperate thread on this as it can be a bit groggy and not everyone will be interested in wading through lots of obscure details.

there's not a lot on the web about the lack of Ukraininan food that the CP was expecting in 1918.

The following NY times articles give some glimmer of what was happening - the first one has some stats on the area under cultivation during the last 3 years of the war, the others are reports from Germany on the state of rations, etc - in one case reporting on debate in the Reichstag the day before as reported through the Netherlands

Just a suggestion, if you are looking for numbers about 1918.

yes - you can search the NY times archive 1851-1950 (I think it hte one) for terms like "ukraine 1918" - there's a surprising number of articles - we tend to forget that papers were the 'net of the day.....
