B-24 Data

Post by el cid again »

I have reworked the B-24 data for a number of scenario assumptions: this involves B-24D/E, B-24J, Liberator IV (a late B-24E), Navy PB4Y-1 and C-27/LB-30 (representing all transport conversions as well as built to purpose transport B-24s). There is in addition a recon version not examined here.

RHSCVO is more or less = to stock scenario 16 or CHS in terms of attempting to model the war as it was. Here we use 5 B-24s per month at San Diego and 20 from (four) off map locations. This converts to B-24J at a rate of 11 (set the factory to 6 and it will add the 5 from the D/E model) at San Diego and 40 off the map production. There are 10 Liberator IV per month - made either in Eastern Canada or at Willow Run (that is, off the map). There are 9 C-87s per month (which may be too many - that is essentially all of them - as if none ever go anywhere else - but most were PTO). And there are 8 Navy PB3Y-1s at San Diego and 32 off map. [RHSRAO = RHSCVO for everything except the Russians are active]

RHSBBO is based on an assumption that pre war and 1942 planning dominate production. Here the Navy gets no PB4Y-1s at all (and lots of flying boats instead) - but the production of them goes to the USAAF as B-24Js. So the numbers are the same except
1) PB4Y-1 = 0
2) B-24J = 14 at San Diego and 64 off map.
[RHSRAO and RHSPPO = RHSBBO for almost everything, including aircraft production]

RHSEOS is based on RHSCVO but modified for different Japanese organization. This has some impact on US production: the number of B-24D/E and B-24J is doubled (and less are sent to other theaters) - but the PB4Y-1 is sent to the Navy - so its numbers don't show up as B-24Js. Here the data is like CVO except
1) B-24DE = 10 at San Diego and 40 off map
2) B-24J = 12 (plus the 10 converting from D/E) plus 48 off map.
[RHSAIO = RHSEOS for everything except the Russians are passive and the political points/command settings are like CVO for Japan ONLY - it being under AI control - the Allies are presumed to have a human player who decides on commands]

RHSEEO (unissued at this point so don't look for it) will be like RHSEOS except: the Navy gets half the PB4Y-1s (originally because it is getting the PBB instead - but ultimately they decide to get PB4Y-1s as well), and so the other half goes to B-24J production. Here the data is like CVO except:
1) B-24D/E = 10 at San Diego and 40 off map
2) PB4Y-1 = 4 at San Diego and 16 off map
3) B-24J = 16 at San Diego and 64 off map

C-87 production never changes. Liberator IV production never changes. [The other Allied heavy transport C-54 production goes from 16 in CVO and BBO families to 24 in EOS family and to 32 in EEO]. Total B-24 production capacity is a constant, it just varies how many are sent to PTO and of which model?
