Steel Panthers not responding & blank screen

When I try to start Steel Panthers my computer goes to a black screen and after a short period of time Steel Pantners stops responding in task manager. I had this same issue a year or so ago and I was told to delete a certain file (and I don't remember what file it was) and this did fix my problem. I belive it was a configuration file.[&:]

try starting the game directly from the mech.exe, found in the main spwaw folder....or make a shortcut to it on your desktop and start from there.
also try running in compatability mode for win 98 by right clicking on the mech.exe and going into properties

Alby, I always start from Mech.exe. I have tried 98 compatability and 256 colors. It still fails. I remember having this issue about 1 1/2 years ago. At that time I was told to delete a certain file (and that it would be recreated the next time I started SPWAW). This did fix my problem before and I supect that it might work again.

"Steel prefs" file  inside the "save" folder is one you refer to.
