Back

Post by Wild Bill »

The viral epidemic knocked me for a loop, gentlemen! I hope you all weather this intense insidious storm.

I just wanted you to know that I am back after 8 days of solitude while I got all my mess put back together.

A Warning! Be careful of downloads. Be sure you have a good anti-virus program!

The virus ate mine. I have a much better one now.

Good to be back with you all!

Hey Kunel,

Glad you made it back! ;) There is not a safe site left on the net I fear these days! And another area that I want to bring up to all broad-band users. Is Be Da** sure you have a good firewall in place!
as Mr. T would say - "I pitty the fool that dos'nt have one!" :D
I personaly receive anywhere from 1 - 2 dozen hits a day looking for a back-door into my system. And that's on a slow day!!

I guess I'm a belt and suspender kind of guy. Fire wall and three different AVPs running in different places. I got the mega system condom action going here.

I'm safe but it sure takes the romance out of it.:(

Sorry Bernie! It was McAfee...I say was, because it is history. I'm using Norton 2002 now and it really does a job! I strongly recommend it.

Because of Norton, I was able to save most of my data! That alone was worth the price of it.

Firewall! Yes! All the time. You can't be too cautious nowadays.

What sickness...to use such talent for such perverted ends.

I appreciate the welcome back from all of you!

I ditched McAfee awhile back and went with Nortons, never regretted it.

Norton is the only way to go. I had to many problems with McAfee in the past. Of course if you run Linux you are kind of immune to the virii. :)

Welcome back WB.

To many virus running rampant the past few days makes me wonder..

Thanks Marauder!

It is good to have survived this disaster. I'm a little older and wiser now and a little better prepared for this in the future.

Oops, did I say Goblin again? :)

Not to be too much off topic here, but I strongly recommend a FREE Scanner called AVG. It's cleaned virus on both mine and my wife's system that an updated version of Norton didn't touch. I learned about from an email list group that got infected. Basically the subscribers who did have AVG were safe. The rest of us got whacked. It fixed my system and I've sworn by it ever since. Updates are free for personal use and come out almost weekly.
You can download it at www.grisoft.com. Also scans incoming and outgoing emails.
