TOAW III could not find expected registry information?

I have Windows XP. When I install and run TOAW III, I get a message:
"TOAW could not find expected registry information. You may need to
reinstall the game." Reinstalling doesn't help, changing windows
compability mode doesn't help and patching to version 3.2.29.27
doesn't help. What should I do?

Have you ever been able to install it? Have you ever been able to run it? I'm not sure what you mean when you say "install and run". Did it finish the installation? When did you get the error message? Is this a version that you downloaded, or a boxed copy? Please be a little more specific and give some more details. Thanks.

Jamiam, I downloaded recently and installed and ran on XP without difficulty.... download again in case there was some corruption?

Case closed. Problem was in Windows, not in TOAW. Answer was reinstalling Windows. Now all works well.
