Black screen At start of GAME

OK I run XP

I bought it, downloaded it, unzipped it, INstalled it.

Double clicked the icon on my desktop.

Autoplay starts up.

Then I click Play.

I get a black screen, little Red box says loading disappears.

Some music plays.

I can see my mouse courser.

And GAME doesn't respond.

I have to Ctrl Alt Delete to get out.



PLease help I payed 40 bucks for this.

Hi

This is because you don't have the video codec

try holding down ctrl when you launch.

then turn off videos

alternatively

download the intel codec from CSO Downloads in command centre

Command Centre\CSO Downloads\Utilities\ Intel Codec for CoI

then run that before launching. (only needs to be run once)

I have the exact same problem - cursor only - in Vista. I have downloaded the codec and tried holding down CTRL. Neither works. What else might I try?

I didn't know about this codec business when I came across this problem. What I did was deleted the ATOMLOGO.AVI file, copied one of the other AVI files (e.g. MSLOGO.AVI) and renamed that to ATOMLOGO.AVI.

Doing this let me progress to the main menu, after which I selected options and disabled videos.

It appears at least some of the other files are not encoded using this Intel codec, and only the ATOMLOGO. Weird!
