Sound Effects

In Hornet Leader PC, you command a squadron of the U.S. Navy’s elite F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighters! You select the pilots and arm the aircraft based on real-world mission briefings. Once you reach your objective, you evaluate threats, and do what needs to be done to destroy the target!

Sound Effects

Post by Adam Parker »

I know this may be a stupid request but for the life of me I can't work out what the "musical" sound effects mean during game play.

They're not the kinda effects I've ever come across in a war game (other than the boom which means I've been hit)!

Seeing that there are vox effects like "SAM launch"!, why not something also like "that was close" for a successful evasion/supression, "I'm still locked on" - for an unsuccessful evasion/supression, "that's a miss" - for a missed Fox launch or "splash 1" - for a kill on the enemy?

Any chance of a description of what's current?

I thought they would sound better than voice sounds every time, which I thought may grow irritating after constant play. I wanted a pleasant, yet sonically relevant brief musical cue that wouldn't grow annoying, but still keep one or so voice cues. Subject to change at some point.

My 2 cents. In a game that doesn't stress graphics sound can be everything.

I don't personally have any problems with the current sounds but I wouldn't call them Stellar either.

So I would gladly welcome any improvements in that department.

Although I strongly agree with the statement that too many vocal statements would grow irritating. If you've any doubt load up pretty much any RTS game. Even with all the variations it does get increasingly annoying for anyone who plays a lot. A great sound effect can be so much more soothing, even when heard repeatedly. Average sound effects less so.

Is it me?  Aren't there extra sound files in the install folder that aren't used in-game?

What's goin on with those?
