the little (2) next to the supply stock

What is that little number in ( ) when you look at the stocked supply of a unit?

Ive tried to do some testing as to get the hang of the supply model, and this one little number have me baffeled. Id say it shows 2 if the stock is full. But it dosent always appear as there this a connection between the number and the % of the stock.

The number in the parenthesis next to the supply stock is how many turns of supply the unit has at normal consumption before it runs out.  Most land units can carry enough supply that they can function for a little bit if caught out of supply.  Ships can carry a lot of supply so the number in the parenthesis may be as high as 20.

If you make custom units, you specify the supply carry capability and the consumption so that number can be as high as you want.
