question

In Hornet Leader PC, you command a squadron of the U.S. Navy’s elite F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighters! You select the pilots and arm the aircraft based on real-world mission briefings. Once you reach your objective, you evaluate threats, and do what needs to be done to destroy the target!

question

Post by tomdesh44 »

Is it just me or do the enemy aircraft seem a bit to powerful....In most cases I am getting attacked from 2 zones away with aircraft which seem better than what I have.
I am also wondering why you are not able to multi target with weapons. If you try to attack an airfield for instance you get overwhelmed by enemy aircraft. They start out with enough on the map and are getting 2 more each turn. If you could fire at more than one target you might get a chance to survive. I am practicing at the newbie level and have had several missions where more that one plane was lost or was unable to complete the mission because the ground attack designated aircraft were hit and all weapons except the cannons were jettisoned .

Use suppression and your pilots will live long enough to shoot back and eliminate all the enemy bandits. In a way that is like getting to fire more than once, really an unlimited number of times as long as you have the weapons...

Depending on the mission, I try to have one or two aircraft that are loaded for suppression of enemy aircraft. Aim 7's are good because of the range and I seem to do pretty good with this set up. As far as SAM Sites, I usually Evade. As usual your mileage may vary.

One other thing, in missions with a lot of bandits I will usually fire two missles each in the first round at each of the worst attackers (the ones with the longest range) thereby insuring that I eliminate them and cut down their numbers. You really dont have to worry quite as much about the shorter ranged attackers.

It also helps to pick as many FAST pilots as possible for an airfield type mission, that way you get the most first shots.

The secret is to keep in great considerations fast pilots, and to keep bandits in great account. You know at the start of the mission the sites you will encounter, but you have only an idea of the number and types of bandits. So normally I'm very prudent and I use up to 50% of my hornets to tackle with the bandits...
