RHS--KB Question

Post by John 3rd »

Continuing to get my feel for this before hitting the 'advance turn' button and being committed to an Opening Day move. The KB starts halfway to Hawaii in this Mod. Can I still tinker with its composition? Can I send it to another target? Will the Mod allow me to do that?

Where the KB starts depends on the scenario:

the strictly historical CVO and BBO families start it more or less as in Stock Scenario 16 or CHS - and if you don't change anything it will arrive at its historical position to attack Hawaii on the first turn.

the EOS family of scenarios bases the KB out of Kwajalein - and it starts very near there - with full tanks.

Either way - you MAY change its destination - and on turn 1 it will go anywhere reasonable. Turn 1 involves an assumed movement for a number of days - and KB will sail for all those days at once - just as it does in Stock or CHS. And just as in them, you may set the actual destination hex pretty much at will. It matters too - you might catch enemy carriers for example - if you can guess where they are going. But I am not entirely sure that is fair - you know quite a bit more about them than the Japanese normally would/did know. OTH the downside is - if you are not within a few hexes of Oahu the chance to inflict first turn damage on things there is gone forever - and so a player who gives that up may have "paid" for whatever he does get.
