Play Types

Post by bbmike »

When choosing a play it would be nice to see the name and what type of play you are about to choose. Maybe a mouseover text window could pop up or something?

Hi.

Some of this information is available in the play thumbnail's colour code. A green player icon with a green route indicates that the play is a running play. A blue route line indicates that the play is a passing play with a read progression.

I will see about adding some form of text descriptor.

thanks
David

If you click through plays with the keyboard or on the arrows, the play name shows. They do not with the mouse is you just mouse over them.

Good to hear about the keyboard. I've been using the mouse and it seems certain things are limited. I accidently hit FG formation and had to kick a 65 yard field goal on 3rd down because I had no way of backing out of the formation. Can you do this with the keyboard? Dave any chance to allow more functionality when using the mouse to coach games?

There shouldn't be any functionality difference (that I'm aware of) between the keyboard and mouse interfaces. I am able to back out of a formation using the right mouse button.

At this time, the only drawback I know about using the mouse is that there is no mouse over on the plays, so one must click on the arrows to scroll through the plays to get the names to show.

As MjH indicated, one can back out of a formation by using the right mouse button to "go back" rather than "select" with the left mouse button.

It can be done with the keyboard as well using the [2] key.

It would be good to change the type of play (run or pass) after it is started so you can make draws and play action plays easier and still correctly identify them.

The line blocking may be changed, but there is one limitation: if a play is selected as a run, the quarterback will not have his progressions, so it is important to make sure any pass starts as a pass.

A draw play may be created from a pass formation or a run formation.

Until there is guard keying in the game, the draw will be less effective than in the real world.
