Jap DD building and TK conversion

Post by Cavalry Corp »

I wonder if there were more planed than shown in the game seems to me Japs never have enough DD .
Does anyone know anything about this

Also you would have thought you could convert a TK to AO as you can convert an AK to almost anything and an AO conversion sounds more simple .

Hi Micheal.

I guess (mind: guess) that the number of japanese DDs is correctly modelled in the game (afaik). They have plenty of them, but...you're right: never enough! Especially when war goes on and those submarine killers come to hunt your convoys[:@]

I have no idea, how number of DDs in the game relates to RL.  However, does not Japan have the ability to emphasize DD construction, at least to some extent, with the ship construction system?  Couldn't you build a CV or two less and build more DDs?

you can´t build more, you can "only" accelerate those in the construction menu.

From what I understand, the IJN was very slow to realize that they needed more DDs, and that by the time they did, there just was not enough time to design and construct them.

Japan had the time and the dockyard space to construct more DDs. They also had several successful DD designs inplace, The problem by late-44 was that they were running short on strategic materials due to the US sub and bombing campaigns. Then some genius in the defense ministry decided that the best way to replace military manpower losses was to draft skilled workers from dockyards and aircraft factories and turn them into infantry. Talk about short-sightedness!!!

The Japanese planned 100 more Tachibana (Matsu) class destroyers, but almost all were cancelled.  It might make sense to include more of these, and give the Japanese player the option of building more CVs or DDs.  Names for the additional destroyers would have to be conjectural; I doubt that any of then got official names.

Exactly so in a game where you do better than historical you should have these and other ships available. Y ou can build more planes but not ships !

Same should apply for Allies...and this would utterly bust WitP capacity.
Really need a 45-47 expansion set!

I'm in November 45, and have stopped building targets, um, I mean ships.

Accellerate Shinano [:'(]

If you already had enough shipbuilding points accumulated in your stocks, you could actually consider it - you already spent the HI for those shipbuilding points, so no real loss in that respect, but I doubt it would be finished in time. Would be a nice surprise for your opponent (and a lot of points [8|])....

Yees, the Shinano would be ready by 1947 [;)]
Wit ha capacity of 47 ac? she's not worth any effort whatsoever...if she became a super carrier with
160 ac we would talk again [:D]

I do have HA subs in my build queue, but they're bugged and stop at 1 days left of construction [:@]

The problem with adding hypothetical ships to the queue is that IJ in the game could easily choose to build pretty much whatever ships you put on the track. Although this would certainly mean tradeoffs in other areas, it is far too easy for IJ to expand shipbuilding capacity in the game far beyond what would have been possible IRL.

Are there any bugs in production like mentioned about the HA subs ??
Maybe ship yards should have a finate size like bases ??
