Game doesn't run (?)

Post by Panta_slith »

Hello!
I downloaded the game yesterday and installed it. My system has all requirements indicated (and more), though when I try to launch the game, nothing happens.
The only reason I figure out for that failure is that my GEForce 5200 driver is too old (2005), though it would be the first game that doesn't run so far (even CM: Strike Force runs smoothly).
Would it be possible? (I am going to update it this afternoon, but meanwhile anxiety devours me! [;)]
Cheers,
Panta

Please post a DxDiag file.

Do you get any kind of error message or the game simply does nothing? Does this happen from both the Game Menu and Quick Start links?

Hi Erik,
No, no messages, the computer just shows some disk activity for a short while and then, nothing...
As for the DxDiag file, I must confess that I don't know how to do that...never had graphics problems on that computer before [&:]

Hi Panta,

There's a message pinned to the top of this forum that should give you instructions on how to generate a DxDiag file.

Regards,

Erik,
I have just updated my graphic card's driver and the problem continues exactly the same. Here goes the diag file.

did you install the .NET framework 2.0?

is there anything anything special about your OS configuration you can think of?

do you have virus protection software running?

I don't know about .NET framework 2.0, do you need it to run the game?
Nothing particular about the OS.
Yes, I do have virus protection, but so far never had problems with it.

hi panta,

try reinstalling the game and making sure you check the checkbox to install .NET framework 2.0

if that doesnt work also try running the game with all your other software switched off. especially any anti spam/virus/spyware software.

let me know.

Erik, Vic,
Problem solved! It was the NET 2.0 framework, of which I didn't had the slightest idea about, I had to inquire at work... I don't have other games or software that need it, and I disregarded the corresponding check box during the installation, thinking that it was something related to web playing or so, like I had seen in Uncommon Valour.
The game requirements specifications said nothing about it either, so perhaps it would be nice to add it, thus no unaware players like myself start having the same problem again.
And the game is...just great! I am enjoying it a lot. [:'(]
Thanks for your (proverbial) fast and efficient support!
Cheers,
Panta
