Advanced Tactics is a versatile turn-based strategy system that gives gamers the chance to wage almost any battle in any time period. The initial release focuses on World War II and includes a number of historical scenarios as well as a full editor! This forum supports both the original Advanced Tactics and the new and improved Advanced Tactics: Gold Edition.

Forced to post!

Post by finriswolf »

I am a wargaming vet. I own many Matrix titles. I have lurked on many forums since my first matrix purchase. I am now making my first post (going through all the setting up an account , responding to email etc,.) to sing the praises of this game! I have not put many hours into it but the 8-10 hours I have played have been some of the most fun I have had with a computer strategy game in a long long time. I am playing the EndSieg scenario as the Germans with Allied + and Soviet ++ and it has been such a blast! It is not as involved as WITP (deep micromanagement which I am drawn to) not as simple as Panzer General to jump into and play a quick game. It somehow falls into a slot between those two games (maybe leaning slightly more towards WITP) that makes it nearly perfect!
Thank you to Matrix and the development team on this game!
Now, back to filling that huge hole torn through the front between Warsaw and Konigsberg!

Kudos, kudos, kudos!

[:-] even the very mention of WiTP brings back those memorys of utter confusion and deep frustration.

I think it would be a loong shoot to even compare anything with the complexety of WiTP. But i do see what you mean with it hitting somewhere in the middle on the complexety scale. But next to WiTP its shrinks into nothingness if you ask me.

I never think i got through more then 4 turns in WiTP befor i had to give up.

Thanks for posting, Finris! It's always a great sign when a game brings out the lurkers. [;)]
