View Victory locations?

Post by GJK »

First off, fun game - I just picked it up the other day and have been reading the manual while playing the 1940 western front game. I'm playing as the Germans and though I'm way behind schedule historically, I've destroyed all western-allied units on the map (except for what is in England) and I believe that I have occupied all the hexes in Europe. However, the beginning of turn screen shows that I have only 12 of 16 VP's.

Question: Is there a key toggle or some other indicator of exactly what the victory conditions/hexes are?

I'm interested in exactly what the victory conditions for this scenario would be - Paris fell some time ago yet the British keep sending forces over (BEF I assume) unless I occupy every coastal hex. It seems that the victory conditions for this scenario should be tweaked a bit as I just keep playing a game of cat and mouse with the one or two western allied units that manage to land each turn, I can't conquer France.

Is there no scenario description ?

My tip would be looking there (one tab in "statistics") or at the strategic map.
A third way would be to click on the bigger enemy cities and study the information for these location.
You´ll find their VP value there.

I found one hex (Amsterdam) that I hadn't conquered. That takes me to 13 Vp's. I count 3 VP's in England, but surely conducting Sea Lion isn't a requirement of this scenario (it's not in the briefing).

I would propose that an overview map showing hex control with VL's be an option. You can kind of get that idea from looking at the Supply Map - but it doesn't show the required VL's. Right now, I'm just moving around the map aimlessly looking for possible VL's with my units, which is silly.

I would 2nd Gary's idea for having the VLs be much more accessible. Having them appear on the F1 Situation Map would be ideal.

The editor allows the scenario designer to show victory conditions on the strategic map.  I did this for most, but not every scenario that I wrote.  The scenario description should have the victory conditions.

Yes ....really a big plus point to have that , a view at glance on all the VP locations ..instead of currently manually keeping track of the VP towns and points

@GJK,

I'm playing this scenario also and it's more than just France 1940. It's supposed to be the whole west front war from 1940 to 1945. If you don't take England and their VP's eventuallyyou will start fighting more and more Allies.

Re-read the scenario description. It describes how Italy goings and leaves the game how the Axis will lose x number of turns after teh Russians join the war, etc.

Hope that helps.
