I am fairly certain that one of their goals is that in order to create a more "close-knit" community, they have eliminated all PBEM play and greatly enhanced the AI. All PBEM'ers will then be required to play "hotseat", but this will result in no noticeable increase in the worldwide demand for non-blonde female roommates. However, the sales of the game will increase significantly due to the worldwide rejoicing that will occur when it is known that the game actually has a credible AI that works even beyond the first year of gameplay. With more revenue and increased interest, the rumored WITP II would then have a realistic chance of actually happening.

As long as we are dreaming, of course.

Hey, as long as you're dreaming you might as well dream big!

I'm still betting on "Carrier Force" for WITP -- that is, detailed carrier battles melded into the WiTP system. I might also settle for a gaggle of interface improvements.

I settle for anything that makes it more of a simulation and less of a game.

Most of us would..., though the "game" aspect has a strong contingent of JFB's who want the war to be more "equal". Sometime around December 7th I'm guessing we'll hear something more "concrete". Until then, we're all in "flights of fantasy-land" and just "playing with ourselves".

The pessimist in me says keep your expectations low and you will be pleasantly surprised...in other words if your driving a Chevy and someone says they'll get you a new car don't expect a Ferrari.

[8|] I would not be surprised to see December 7th come and go. There was supposed to be an annoucement oh Harpoon HCCE the middle of last week. Nothing. Again. What is time ? What are Promises? Marketing ploys. We will see it when we see it. If we see it. Maybe. [8|]

I'd like to see a version that was "pure" simulation with some "switches" to allow for more of a game that can be negotiated between PBEM players.

Do you mean I should hope to get rid of my old Chevy:

Or, as my son-in-law says, the Grampa Car?

[:D] I would love a "grampa Car". That used to mean a Cadillac. Now Grampa's drive Corvettes and "kids" drive Cadillac SUV's. [X(]

Anyone know when the anniversary of Matrix Games being founded is? Any chance it could be another date other than Dec 7? After all while Dec 7 might be the closest most important date for the US as far as the war goes maybe its not directly War related... When was WITP originally released? Could be some sort of anniversary.

I am betting on an add on to WiTP.... no longer WiTP though its a whole globe map WiTW War in The World and it will cover production for every single nation from 1939-1960 (should the conflict actually last that long) you will actually get to design your own ships including their tonnage armaments electrical suits you will have to write our why radar works so you can prove that your nation has the ability to build radar and you will have to manually mine every single resource outta the ground, iron, oil, coal, and convert coal and iron into steal.

On a serious note I cant see the point in being so secretive if it isnt going to be something we have to pay for so either way I am fairly certain and confident its at least some sort of expensive add on.[:D]

Betcha it's a gigantic PDF. you print it all out and it's a huge 1:1 Origami version of Shokaku.
It'll have authentic sounds courtesy of a small doodad like you get in novelty cards these days, such as a pre-recorded 'Banzai' every daybreak, and a growl from Terminus the rest of the day.

Maybe the announcement is that Matrix has aquired rights to all the old Avalon Hill games.  Judging from the level of nostalgia for the AH games, that would please many of us.

... depending on interest we will consider doing a possible WITP Enhancement Pack, or at some point even a new WITP II game.

My guess is that it's the first option.

I wouldn't read too much into this. There is no point in making an announcement if everyone already knows about it.

Also until the day it is released (and this includes the release/announcement date itself) things can change and we all know how this forum will react if things aren't exactly as promised (no matter how unrealistic).

Don't you like a bit of anticipation???? [:o]
Cheers,
