Europe turn 25

Post by tweber »

August 1941.

In the South, I re-establish communications with the isolated airfield. Kiev is an arrival hex and they are always dangerous.

The going is also slow in the north. I am closing in on the Dvina.

Here is my production. I have an advantage now. We will close to parity in 1942. It hurts the West that they lost the UK. The West will be ahead in 1943.

Ok, turn 25 for the west.

I started a operation in the Med. Declared war on Vichy.
Had my ships near Algiers, so i was able to land troops and do some nice shore bombardment.
I also captured Oran by para drop.

In the eastern Med i captured Beirut.

Not to forget i bought some more DD´s since i feel the German is preparing a big sub offensive.
I bet he´s doing this.

Note: I was hit by probably a bug this turn which did not allow me to move out 100 AP units from Gibraltar
even after declaring war on Vichy. As you see on the screen my 100AP engineer unit is still greyed out,
even i could now move it (truck speed). It still had the "i´m in a single isolated land hex, so i can´t move"-status.
Wasn´t updated. The tank unit you can see i bought this turn and it was able to move forward into Vichy territory.

edit: Name on the picture must be ORAN.

My russians did not do much. A attack in the Kiev area which is showed on the screen was done from multiple directions.
Another german unit was hit by several air attacks and nearly eliminated south of Kiev during an attempt to cross the Dnjepr.

Near Helsinki (forgot the screen again) my artillery destroyed a enemy fortification and killed some troops.
I WANT Helsinki !! I need it....

Overall kills/losses in my Russia turn. Mostly caused by artillery and planes.
Tom had in his turn some nice plane losses. My Interceptors had a good day.

But i think they´ll face very soon much more enemy planes [:(]
And no, i can´t beat them...

Btw, the losses Tom had here are PEANUTS compared to his income.
I have to fight with very limited PP income for the next 15 month´s (turns).
And i don´t think i can survive until 1943.....

Turn 26 - September 1941

Did not take pictures this turn.  I will post some next turn.  Continued to assault in both the North and the South.  In the North, I broached the Dvina river line.  I am a couple of turns from Leningrad.  In the South, there were large tank and air battles.  Nothing fancy here.

I am almost evacuated from North Africa.  The Vichy regime chose not to fight and in now collaborating with the Western allies.  I expect some sort of activity against Italy or Greece in the spring.

Design Note.  If the West declares war on Vichy, there is a 75% chance Vichy will not fight and join the allied side instead.  This puts a little uncertainty in the Allied camp.

Allies - Turn 26 (maybe the thread should be renamed....)

Last turn i declared war on Vichy and this turn they joined my side.
That way i got a new base in the Med with Algiers.
Actually i think about ways to do much damage as possible in the med area to force the Axis
to split it´s forces.

In Russia the situation doesn´t look good. Even i inflicted this turn (first time) more damage than the germans
i can´t be happy with since Germany can replace it´s losses easily while i have a hard time doing this.

The fights (no pics):

In the north i started several artillery attacks on the defenders of Helsinki. One unit was nearly destroyed, others took damage.
In northern russia i was also able to pick up a german engineer unit and attacked from 3 directions. Very high losses for the enemy.
Near Kiev i was able to fly some air attacks causing some damage to a unit (destroyed 100% of it´s trucks). Another ground attack
from 3 directions hit a smaller german armored unit hard. Always nice to see those axis Light Tank III dying....

But pls don´t misunderstand this. Germany can do what they want. They have so much more income and a lot of time left until i could become
a more serious threat.
