About combat log & combat details

Post by Herode_2 »

The log says :
ATTACKER: Artillery attacks SMG
BEFORE MOD: Attval= 100, DefVal= 100
I can't figure what are these 100 Attval, since the unit's description gives 400 attack points (and 100 defense points) for the Artillery and I do'nt see any mention of these 400 points later on.

Attack vs current unit type devided by number of attacks. I discuss this in my combat thread. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1604539

OK, seems to work. Well spotted, Willburn ! [:)]

Another question now about combat details.

An air attack strikes an ennemy unit. The AAR view gives the following stats for the defender (first col. : initial, second col. : current)
Readiness : 85 / 72
Experience : 32 / 32
Morale : 50 / 49
Entrenchment : 25 / 21

Immediately following the air attack, some of my land units attack the same ennemy unit. Stats of the defender from the AAR view :
Readiness : 72 / 10
Experience : 32 / 19
Morale : 48 / 42
Entrenchment : 20 / 0

Morale and entrenchment lost 1 point beetwen the 2 combats. I suspect it's just an effect of rounding up one time and down the second time, maybe Vic could confirm or correct me ?

Moreover, for combat round 1 / subround 1, the combat log says :
Defval after SupplyConsume mod: 91
Defval after Entrench mod for defending hex: 107.38
107.38 / 91 = +18%.
Entrenchement 20 or 21 should give 20 or 21% bonus (1% by entrenchment point after the manual p.42), I don't understand where the 2-3 missing points have vanished.

Any ideas ?

the first must be due to rounding to a whole number.

the other is probably because the values of entrenchment can differ per combat individual.

Ah, Yes, but sometimes, looking at those details reveal logic problems, so it's good that someone is checking. (understanding the details also help some folks get a better handle on the "big picture" as well.
