Jan 7th 1945...............

Speedy carries on gobbling up the Solomans with from what I can see are individual rifle companies..........for the last three turn I had moved 4 sqdrns of bombers to Rabaul to hit his ships....as only the main TF is covered by a CVE group.....but alas the weather didn't clear........UNTIL TODAY.........warm sunshine greeted my flying penguins.......ready to re-live the heady early days of the war by attacking unescoted transports.......but then the sky darkened once more......as 333 Superforts......fill'd the heavens....ok, enough of the bad prose.......all that I have left of the 4 bomber groups....are smouldering wrecks.......it does make me feel that Matrix have hard-coded a dislike fro penguins into the game.............

Otherwise a quiet turn.......with Speedy, I'm sure plotting.......where will he move from Indochina.......I'm sure he will try and flank Hanoi.......
You'd never guess.....I didn't proof-read the above post....would you?

Don't worry, Brother Penguin... I'll make sure a dislike for Speedy is coded into it this time around...[:D]

Btw, can you hit his B29 bases with longrange raids? Perhaps at night if he is capped by day?

A little bit of harassment here or there might do wonders..

.....and so I face the final curtain......

Post by fabertong »

January 1945 has come and gone........and I fear my hope, expressed about 18 months ago. to make it until VE day is but a false hope..........

Singapore has fallen......with a swing of 3000 points......Speedy has Invaded Taan......and will soon invest Hanoi........but more to the point is his strategic bombing of the HI's which yeilds a huge number of points each week........and I no longer have the Industry build any fighters to halt this onslaught............

I think the game will end around the 1st of April............by auto-vic.........I still have a large amount of Naval assets...7BBs......7CVs.....plus enough escorts to carry the fight..........but no way to use them to any value I fear........and Kami's are now useless, on the whole, due to Speedy's ability to fly land based LRCAP over most(if not all) of his objectives.........

Steven has no need to invade the HIs, and I don't expect him to waste man nor machine on such an enterprise.......he will look to flank Hanoi......and open China.........and carry on the Bombing.......he will clean up all the little abandoned bases in the PNG/Sols area.......and wait for Victory to come......while I suspect trying to tempt my Naval forces out to fight.........I am also running out of bases to hide the fleet that are out of Superfort range.........

Sorry for the slow updates......as 'RL'......has caught up with me..........but if you have any questions, do ask.......and I'll attempt to answer them.......

Now, back to the bunker........

Maybe you could try a counter-move in the Aleutians? Penguins ought to do well up there . . . [;)]

Tooo many polar bears.................alas.............

Today Osaka was hit by the Allied flying circus..............all my CAP .........engaged a sweep of 150 Mustangs....I had 120ish mixed fighters(Frank/Tony/Tojo).......exp 75-80(sadly my best airgroups).........I lost them all......to the loss of 10 Mustangs........to be fair these Mustangs are no doubt crack...........I'm now moving Nate equiped airgroups out of training and into the front lines.........

Speedy's airgroups around Taan hit and sank a 2xASW TF ..... 5 PC were lost.........

I sank an AK.......damaged from mines at Taan ....an I boat finished her off.......

Allied troops close on Hanoi..........a few days out..........

Well, that's really quite old for penguins isn't it? [&:]

Still, it doesn't sound terribly promising.

Feb 8th.........1945......

The end is accelerating now.....with Speedy scoring 1,000 points this turn...........I lost no ships......about 100 planes to Mustang LRCAP over Taan.....and Taan base itself............but most point came from a 488 plane Superfort raid on the HIs........

I have around 47,000 points.........Speedy now around 81,000.........his will rise....mine will just drop............another 10 turns like this.....and I think the game will be over.........

2 x SAG....both small 1CA ane escorts will hit the ships at Taan tomorrow....but with 4 Brit. BBs on station........this can't end well.......I can't use the BBs due to lack of speed............

Time is short.....working on my disguise.....so I can slip away with the crowd at the end...............

Feb. 17th(I think) 1945..........

The last of my troops trapped at Singapore were destroyed today..........11,500 troops......

My 2x SAGs that were moving on Taan.....have beeen recalled.......they had stayed in the same hex for the last 3 turns refusing to attack.......and now Speedy had spotted them.......and fuel was running low....I have no idea why they didn't attack..........they Included all my remaining fast BBs.........

Supply low......morale low......but still......it's not like I'm going to lose the war.......is it?

Speedy's next move will be probably a landing on Mainland China........and Formosa.......

Time for some courts-martial! (Uh, or is it court-martials??) Tell the firing squads to aim low -- penguins aren't that tall.[:D]
