Migrating British Entry-Exit point

Post by el cid again »

In all forms of WITP there are, by hard code, two British Entry-Exit hexes.

In stock these were Bombay and Karachi.

Andrew changed Bombay to Aden for CHS - and while Aden does change location in RHS - it remains a point where British naval vessels may exit the map. We have a number of other entry points representing the original CHS Aden - including Karachi - and Muscat in Level 7 - where ships may enter - and a town in Pakistan where land units may enter the map. Aden in RHS is not very changed from CHS - but in Level 6 most of the petroleum enters at Muscat.

RHS changed the other entry hex at every level: Level 5 uses Melbourne, Level 6 uses the South Atlantic Entry Point (Tristan da Cunha Island) and Level 7 uses Recife, Brazil.

Level 7 in its next release - which will be designated 7.787 - while all three hexes will appear to be exactly the same as they did in 7.7865 - in fact Capetown will be the British exit hex - and Recife will not be. Ships may still enter at either one. Some British land units would respawn at Recife - which was not really good for technical reasons - so now they will appear at Capetown. This is the level at which Level 7 will freeze. An update for Levels 5 and 6 may well occur - particularly if we change aircraft - and that will be x.7866 - to make it clear they are not really at the same degree of development as Level 7 now is.

My grand scheme failed. Valparaiso disappered in August 1942.

The new plan is to make Muscat the alternate British exit point. From that point Axis ships are not permitted to sail - so it works for ships - and it is perfectly reasonable for land and air units coming down from Iraq or Iran. New test running.

I am not happy with this - and will also try a different slot combination - because I prefer an entry-exit hex on the southern ship track system to give the Allies flexability.
