Changing the master file question

Post by elmerlee »

I can get the items I want to alter to make the changes OK but I don't seem to be able to get these to stay permanent(save).

I have tried various things such as :

1.Loading the original master file directly into editor and changing it.
2.Copying said file and changing name and loading it then making changes.
3.Loading a senario - removing the .PT file.Making changes.Saving the senario.
4.Loading a senario -removing the .PT file and inserting another master file. Then saving the senario.

So what am I missing? I thought there must be a "SAVE" button somewhere directly in the editor but other than the one on the "Main Screen" I cannot find anything. And as I said - that does not seem to save master file changes.

I may be wrong, but you do have to hit the Save on the main screen.

This brings up a suggestion that I was going to make. When making a scenario (not modifying the masterfile) and after having spent over an hour on the map, I accidentally hit "Main" instead of "Map". My instinct was then to hit the arrow button to "go back". Instead, it took me to the splash screen and as far as I could see, all of my work was lost. There should be a prompt to save before exiting any editing section if it has not been currently saved.

"Save" is in the "System" menu on the map screen. It works as in the game !
But I admit it's surprising not to be able to access save except from the "map" view ...

Thanks for the reply GJK but as I mentioned I did try that with no success.

After trying this for quite some time I now am getting more than a little frustrated. Since I am not new to games, editors,or computers it is really ticking me off that I cannot get this working.

Can someone give me another lead on this.
We really do need some tutorials or manuals on the editor. Yes, I realize
they are in the works and Vic is most attentive to our needs.

Okay I still am taking dumb pills I guess.

Figured this out and of course it was really simple.

I did not remember there was a save button under the "computer" icon on the map screen.

That saves the master file that was loaded and retains the changes.

sorry that the editor interface didnt get as much attention as the game interface. but you found it. :) you can use a lot of other play buttons in the editor too like moving units, setting HQs, setting production.

No problem with the interface Vic. There is so much to this game and everything is done very well. A person just needs to work through it a step at a time.
