Kicking Game

Post by long_time_fan »

Hi Guys,
I was wondering about the way the kicking game works. Is it possible to score singles from punts? Also, is there an option to concede a single as opposed to running it back (either punts or field goals)? Also on-side kicks and the punter recovering the ball, are they in? I guess the way to do would be to find a way to target the kick. Honestly, I think it might be very difficult to do and if so, no worries, but one of the great strengths of the Canadian code is the way the kicking game works.

Yes, it's certainly possible to score singles on punts.

To concede the single point, you would have to run out the back or side of the endzone rather than kneel down. I know that kneeling down would be faster, and 'look more real', but the end result is the same.

As an FYI, the new version also includes the 2007 Canadian Football punting rules. (punts landing out of bounds between the 20's is a 10 yard penalty).

Hi David. Great game. I got it a month ago but just signed up.
How come there is no stat for singles?
They may not be so pretty at times but they definetly do add up.

Hi Yes, it's possible to score singles on punts. The punting and associated scoring rules match the rules for the 2007 CFL season.

Also, is there an option to concede a single as opposed to running it back (either punts or field goals)?

If you're coaching no, there isn't the AI will handle that. If you're playing in Arcade mode, there is no specific button press (although there should be and I'm investigating added that), you should be able to just run out the back of the endzone. That does happen in games, but I know the majority just take a knee. And like I said, adding a button to do that is something I'm looking into.

Also on-side kicks and the punter recovering the ball, are they in? I guess the way to do would be to find a way to target the kick. Honestly, I think it might be very difficult to do and if so, no worries, but one of the great strengths of the Canadian code is the way the kicking game works.

Onside kicks was something I had hoped to do for version 2.0 but simply ran out of time.

thanks
David
