Donitz River Traffic Jam: Aaaaaaargh!

Just as the AFVs I was able to spare from defending against the Soviet AFVs that seem to be appearing from everywere, including my rear area, the first HT with an engineer unit aboard, gets hit and immobilized half way across the only bridge, a pontoon bridge, I have access to to cross the river with vehicles. As a result, none of the other vehicles seem to be able to get past it to cross the river.

I assume that there is nothing that I can do, accept, perhaps, pray that the HT becomes mobile again. (Not likely since it has a damage level of 4.) I don't suppose there is any way to have one of my panzers shove the HT off the bridge to free it up again. Oh well. Just needed to vent. :rolleyes:

Btw: If anyone has had this experience, and knows some way to free the bridge up, I will be eternally gratefull!

Where is AAA when you need them???

Try this have your men in the tank bail out. This should make the tank dissappear for AFV purposes and allow you to move vehicles accross the bridge. Then the turn after your crew will reman the tank. It is worth a try.

Brent, the dogs didn't come as a surprise, as they were discussed in the documents for the battle. (There are many usefull tidbits of info in the documents, I've discovered, that give heads ups for what to expect.)

Even so, they did manage to kill a couple of HTs and panzers. I dealt with them by firing at them early and often.

I tried to have the crew of the immobilized HT bail out several times. Each time I got a pop-up saying that the crew tried to bail out, but could not. My guess is that the pontoon bridge is too narrow to allow them to leave their vehicle. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

You could shot at the tank hex until it becomes so suppressed that the crew pops out automatically. It might cause the game to crash though!

I'd thought of that. However, I was concerned that indirect fire might destroy the portion of the pontoon bridge in the hex before the HT crew abandoned their vehicle. If it had been a stone bridge, I probably would have done that. Good idea!
