A few questions

Post by cgoddard »

Apologies if this has already been answered but cannot find the answers on the forum.

1. How do I keep blockade fleets supplied - keeping transports with them does not seem to be working

2. Whenever I click to form a division the next turn it is no longer in effect and I select it again etc etc - seems no way to get Union army organised even as divisions

Dont know about the blockade but to form a division you need a HQ unit I just havent found out how or where I get them. Same as you need a HQ unit for a army but not any for a corp. Have beeen working all day trying to figure out how the heck I get a HQ unit so i can form about 8 Divisions to use up the flood of One stars I got about turn three.

Read my post if i get any help on the HQ units may help you.

1: You have to run them into port to resupply them.

2: You have to add a brigade to the division when you make it IIRC.

Thanks for the answers.

So we are saying that blockade fleets have to cycle back to port. If this is so the Gulf squadrons will spend more time in transit than on duty - looks like I will have to have more smaller squadrons then.

Probably being a little dense re Divisions - If I have a General and several units (brigades) - I click the form division button. Next turn all seems the same as before - assume no division has been formed even though I chose the option last turn. Realise that no separate HQ now needed but manual gives no clue what I am doing wrong. I need to form all these brigades into proper divisions not groups of brigades if you see the distinction.

You can also look in the options, there should be some blockade options. The settings eliminate the need to constantly shuffle naval forces back to port, but will reduce their effectiveness by a certain amount ti simulate the fact that ships in the blockade are, in fact shuttling back and forth, although they never leave, and you don't have to move them.

To form a division, first select a general and press the ‘enable divisional command’ button. Then select the units and the general to be included in the division and click the “create division” special order.

It's well worth it to read through the entire wiki.

I see how the divisions work now - not really explained well in the manual.

I will go away and read up what the blockade options are and where they can be found.
